The Family Support Network (FSN) Administrative Intern will be provided with a comprehensive overview of programmatic processes in the family therapy program at Epworth, including but not limited to social work, clinical social work (not direct practice), and administrative/nonprofit management. The Administrative Intern will have weekly supervision with an FSN therapist/management staff who will be a trained Field Instructor through the St. Louis Field Instruction Collaborative. Experiential training for the Administrative Intern will be a combination of Epworth orientation, on-the-job onboarding with FSN Management Staff, and shadowing opportunities with FSN family therapists and Management Staff.
Learning Objective #1: Student will have a broad overview of programmatic processes in a non-profit social work agency.
1. Student will meet with Director of Family Services to learn program goals, models, procedures, and outcomes.
2. Student will attend FSN and Epworth meetings to understand all aspects of a non-profit agency, including but not limited to financial/budget, continuous quality improvement, grant writing, staff development, and program implementation.
3. Student will learn supervision skills and non-profit management techniques to apply in professional social work practice.
Learning Objective #2: Student will learn techniques to market program and will outreach to community partners and agencies.
1. Student will attend Outreach Meetings with FSN staff to assess and support marketing needs.
2. Student will contact community/partner agencies to strengthen referrals to program.
3. Student will respond to program inquiries.
4. Student will participate in outreach events and community presentations when available.
Learning Objective #3: Student will gain proficiency at leveraging client database to input and gather client and staff performance information.
1. Student will track intake and referral information, including entering FSN Intakes into database and spreadsheets.
2. Student will process closed cases in database, measuring staff performance at clinical documentation procedures.
3. Student will assist FSN Management team with tracking and analyzing outcome and output data of closed cases.
4. Student will research, analyze, and refine key program metrics and outcomes.
Learning Objective #4: Student will learn best practices in engaging and building rapport with FSN clientele through all aspects of client contact in the program.
1. Student will shadow Intake Coordinator in completing Intake Calls to learn excellent customer service and client engagement in services.
2. Student will shadow FSN Therapists on home/school visits and meetings with FSN clients to observe clinical implementation of Strengthening Families Protective Factors Framework.
3. Student will call clients on FSN Waitlist to support their needs and provide resource referrals and waitlist status updates.
Learning Objective #5: Student will research, learn and support implementation of program best practices.
1. Student will participate in training on Strengthening Families Protective Factors Framework, Trauma Informed Care, and best practices relevant to FSN model.
2. Student will research and share best practices that support development of new programming initiatives.

* FSN prefers students to have a year working with children under age 13 in any capacity, some experience in home visiting, and are focusing their studies on Children and Families and/or Mental Health/Clinical Social Work.

The Inpatient Rehabilitation unit is a great unit for future RNs with a goal to work in community, population health, or in home health in the future; as well as future nurses who want to advance to specialty areas.
Overview:
Inpatient Rehab (IRP) is a stroke certified rehabilitation program accredited by the Commission of Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). Admission to the unit is considered a separate admission from the acute care area, but the unit is considered, and supported by all the hospital services at Aurora St. Luke's.
Approximately 50% of the patients admitted to the unit have Neuromedical diagnosis such as: Strokes, Parkinson', Multiple Sclerosis and brain injuries with other neurological impairments.
Other populations served include:
Transplant patients including pre and post organ transplant; and patients who may not qualify for heart transplant and require LVAD implantation.

Unit Description: Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center's Inpatient Rehabilitation Program provides the most advanced rehab care possible through a team approach to medical services and rehabilitation therapies. Our patient population consists of many different diagnoses including brain injury, stroke, amputations, spinal cord injuries, neurological impairments, transplants, heart failure requiring left ventricular assist devices, cancer, some orthopedic conditions, as well as generalized weakness associated with prolonged hospitalization. We are a 45 bed CARF-accredited acute rehabilitation facility providing patient-centered care through an interdisciplinary team approach focusing on the medical and functional needs of the patient. The nursing team works closely with each other collaborating with other disciplines to provide the best patient outcomes and patient satisfaction. In addition to providing medical/surgical management, our focus is providing the necessary skills and tools to facilitate a safe discharge home.
Major Responsibilities:
Under the observation of the Registered Nurse, completes activities of daily living, vital sign completion and blood glucose monitoring.
Collaborates with the Registered Nurse in establishing a plan of care based upon an analysis of health, education and developmental needs and patient/family preferences.
