JOB SUMMARY The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for assisting in the planning, coordinating of the daily workload, and carrying out projects as well as the safe operation of our heavy equipment fleet. The duties of this position will involve maintaining and repairing roads, airport runway and drill site pads. Winter road, runway and pad maintenance which includes snow removal. Material handling and material organization on the pads in the Kuparuk field. *** This is a SEASONAL, BENEFITS ELIGIBLE position expected to start on January 2026 and be completed around May 2026 *** *** BENEFITS INCLUDE: HEALTH, DENTAL, VISION, 401K, and other SUPPLEMENTAL INSURANCE ***. ESSENTIAL DUTIES This position reports directly to the Roads & Pads Foreman. The operator must be able to perform pad, road and runway maintenance and repair. The roads, runway and pads will be maintained to specified crown, grade, and elevation. Winter road, runway, and pad maintenance to include snow removal. Supplying the facilities, assisting in facility maintenance and construction with equipment support. Provide drill rig moves with equipment support. This position involves being able to become OSHA certified in trenching and excavation and to perform trenching and excavating activities in a safe and proficient manner. This is a heavy equipment operating position, and the candidate selected must be able to operate the equipment in Kuparuk's fleet safely and proficiently. The fleet consists of but is not limited to Cat dozers, Volvo front end loaders, Cat compactors, Cat excavators, Kenworth, Peterbilt 5th wheel tractors, Bobcat, Volvo skid steers, 16 Cat blades, lowboy, flat bed and end dump trailers, Loader mounted snow Blowers, water trucks, rock trucks. Be familiar with and capable of using rotary lasers and site levels to establish grade and set grade hubs and stakes. Prepare, update, and maintain logs, records, and timecards. Be able to monitor equipment operation, perform pre-operation inspections, identify malfunctions, fill out maintenance requests and clean equipment. Needs to be able to inspect, adjust, and perform minor equipment repairs. Help prepare and maintain inventory of supplies, PPE, equipment, and tools. Must realize that safety and the environment are our priority here at Kuparuk. Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations. Other duties will be assigned to this position as needed. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE Must be authorized to work in the U.S. A High School Diploma or equivalent is required. A valid (U.S issued, Alaska compliant) Class A CDL with both Hazmat and Tanker endorsements is required. A current DOT Medical Card is required. A North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification is required. The ability to work 84 hours a week on a 2x2 rotation is required. At least three (3) years of experience operating Cat Dozers, Volvo Front-end Loaders, Cat Compactors, Cat Excavators, Kenworth and Peterbilt 5th Wheel-Tractors, Bobcat and Volvo Skid-Steers, 16 Cat Blades, Lowboy Trailers, Flat-bed Trailers, End-Dump Trailers, Loader-mounted Snow Blowers, Water-trucks, and Rock-trucks is required. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE Four (4) or more years of experience working in a Construction or Industrial setting, the Petrochemical or Oil and Gas industry, on the North Slope, and/or in other Arctic environment is preferred. A current OSHA Trenching and Excavation Certification is preferred. This position is expected to support the Winter Exploration 2025-2026 season, with an anticipated start date of October 2025 and an end date in April 2026. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Operates front-end loader with forks, bucket and miscellaneous attachments. Services and maintains forklift - this includes greasing the forklift once per week, checking all fluid levels every tour, changing the oil as per maintenance schedule, checking for fluid leaks, adequate air in tires, working lights and systems once per week. Moves, stores, and keeps inventory of all equipment/mud tubulars on pad and yard, and mud additives on rig location. Maintains a logbook. Notifies Rig Manager of delivered equipment to rig site. Forwards packing slips for materials to Rig Manager's office upon receipt of items. Ensures all materials are received and notifies Driller of any shortages. Ensures materials for shipment are shipped out with appropriate, complete documentation. Maintains BOP skid every crossover with all nuts to flush with end of studs on all crossovers before storing on rack. Keeps all racks organized - metal, bottles, hose. Maintains rig location - removing snow, leveling yard, filling in holes, scratching pad to prevent slips. Keeping location clean, removing any wood, metal, scrapings, etc. Reports any broken equipment to Rig Manager's office immediately. Fuels and monitors auxiliary equipment on location. Clean and maintain upper doghouse with a stock of water, coffee, cups, and supplies. Day tour operator fills out order sheet and picks up supplies from base camp. Provides relief on drill rig floor when needed. 3. HSE Responsibilities Conducts his job duties in compliance with Nordic HSE policies. Works toward achieving Nordic's annual HSE goals. Assists Rig Management in identifying operational non-conformances at the rigsite. Reports any spills on pad to Rig Manager's office immediately- including oil, water, glycol, drilling mud, dry mud products, etc. Reports any property or environmental damage by third-party vendors to Rig Manager's office immediately. Assists in development and implementation of standard operating procedures. Assists in maintaining waste management tracking system and hazardous waste determinations. Notifies Rig Manager of any environmental non-compliances immediately. Encourages rig personnel to report any unsafe work conditions or practices and any environmental non-compliances immediately to supervisors. Assists in completing daily spill champion activities log.
