About the Role

Missouri Organic Recycling is seeking a dedicated Grinder Operator to join our team. This position plays a crucial role in processing organic materials such as wood, brush, and yard waste into sustainable products like mulch and compost. The ideal candidate will safely and efficiently operate grinding equipment (Excavator/Wheel Loader) while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Equipment Operation & Maintenance:
Operate Grinder's, Excavator's, Wheel Loaders, and other heavy machinery for processing organic waste.
Conduct pre-operation and post-operation inspections to identify mechanical issues.
Perform routine maintenance such as cleaning, lubrication, and minor adjustments.
Report mechanical problems to the Grinder Manager promptly.
Follow proper setup, calibration, and shutdown procedures for grinders.
2. Material Processing:
Safely feed yard waste, wood, and other organic materials into grinders.
Monitor material consistency and quality to ensure proper processing.
Remove non-compliant materials such as plastics, metals, or hazardous waste.
Adhere to company specifications for mulch, compost, and other products. Adjust grinding methods as needed to maintain quality standards.
3. Safety & Compliance:
Always wear required PPE (safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, ear protection, and high-visibility clothing).
Ensure equipment is positioned safely away from customers and employees.
Conduct daily safety checks on equipment and report issues immediately.
Follow company policies regarding accepted and prohibited materials.

4. Quality Control & Productivity:
Ensure processed materials meet required size and quality specifications. Monitor grinder performance and report inconsistencies in output or equipment function.

Assist in tracking inventory by measuring, weighing, and categorizing processed loads.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and share feedback with management.
5. Customer & Team Interaction:
Engage professionally with drivers and customers dropping off materials.
Collaborate with team members to coordinate grinding schedules and optimize workflow.
Communicate equipment performance and process efficiency concerns to management.
Provide input on potential equipment upgrades or procedural improvements.
Represent Missouri Organic Recycling positively with a professional attitude and excellent customer service.
Qualifications:
Experience operating heavy machinery, preferably excavators, grinders and loaders..
Knowledge of equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
