A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN EQUIPMENTOPERATOR II
As a machinery operator, you spend your day working directly with light to heavy equipment. Your work typically involves coordinating the maintenance and operation of city equipment with minimal supervision. Construction and industrial maintenance projects generally fill up your day, and these involve the use of rollers, graders, backhoes, front-end loaders, forklifts, dump trucks, or bulldozers. Your job is essential to the city, and you perform maintenance on designated streets, utility systems, landfills, and including providing trash & debris collections services for residents while safely following city policies and procedures. You are constantly on your toes and ready for any new and unexpected challenges that may arise in the city. This can include emergency situations such as floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, accidents, and hazardous material spills.
When you aren't out in the city, you generally are back at the office filling out daily reports and other forms for machinery use, service requests, and inventory control. You also ensure that the equipment is safe to use by performing preventative maintenance inspections and proper minor repairs. You enjoy being helpful and have no problem providing assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed. Purpose of Classification
Performs technical work in the maintenance, repair, and/or construction of road and drainage infrastructure. Duties include maintaining existing roadways, drainage structures, and grounds. Essential Functions

Operates and maintains light to heavy road construction equipment including motor graders, pavers, rollers, chip spreaders, loaders, backhoes and tractors to construct and maintain streets and drainage structures.

Estimates required materials needed for construction or repair roads and culverts; performs minor maintenance and repair for road construction equipment; performs patching of roadways and pavement.
Utilizes survey level equipment to set and verify ground elevations for road and/or road ditch improvements.
Installs culverts, ditch work, driveways operating the back hoe; operates excavator for shoulder widening and cleaning drain ditches; operates rollers, sheep foot, blue tops.
Provides flagger assistance when working road projects; works with power tools in a safe manner. assists in picking up trash, debris. and tires.
Transports material and heavy equipment that may include semi-trailers; maintains tools and machinery in good condition and uses all tools carefully and as instructed.
Required to be on call and/or on-duty to assist the community in preparing, responding and recovering from severe weather events.

Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED; supplemented by four (4) years of experience performing technical and/or repair work operating light to heavy road construction and equipment; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Minimum Texas Class B Commercial driver's license (CDL) with a tank and air brakes endorsement. Hazardous Material Endorsements are preferred.

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
The ISBL Field Operator ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the RGLNG facility. This role is primarily field-based and involves conducting routine checks, monitoring equipment, supporting maintenance, and assisting internal and external support teams. The operator must be competent in starting, stopping, isolating, and troubleshooting process equipment while maintaining strong awareness of plant processes within the Pre-Treatment and Liquefaction areas of an LNG facility.

Execute field tasks to support safe production targets (Start-of-Shift Orientation, shift huddles, toolbox talks).

As an equipmentoperator, you spend your day working directly with light to heavy machinery. Your work typically involves coordinating the maintenance and operation of city equipment with minimal supervision. Construction, hauling, industrial service and maintenance projects generally fill up your day, and these involve the use of rollers, graders, backhoes, front-end loaders, forklifts, dump trucks, or bulldozers. Equipment operator job in Weslaco, TX
Under general supervision of the Brush Collection supervisor, employee is responsible for the collection and transportation of brush and debris collected from assigned alleys and streets within the areas of the City of Weslaco with the use of equipment such as a grapple brush truck, backhoe, front end loader, etc. in connection with the City's Brush Pick-up Program. May perform semi-skilled maintenance work requiring technical knowledge of assigned work. Employee is required to perform all similar or related duties.
Essential Job Functions
Operates medium equipment to transport large quantities of brush from streets and alleys
Operates medium equipment to transport large quantities of bulky items such as mattresses, box springs, furniture, and other solid refuse collected from streets and alleys
Performs routine maintenance of assigned equipment and trucks
Inspects equipment for mechanical defects and reports findings to supervisor
Required to respond to emergency situations as necessary
Observes safety regulations and communicates unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries to supervisor; immediately
Perform other similar or related duties as assigned
Employee may be required to work beyond normal business hours at night and/or on weekends
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
Must have High School diploma, or equivalent (GED)
One (1) to three (3) years of related work experience to perform such job.
Applicant must pass pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen at City's expense.
Applicant must have current valid Class "C" Driver's License and be insurable.
Must successfully complete Emergency Management and Incident Command Training within first three months of hire date.
Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of safe and effective operation of equipment and machinery; working knowledge of brush collection division operations. Working knowledge of the location of city streets. Ability to utilize and comprehend maps depicting city streets and blocks, pay careful attention to details, and perform work under extreme weather conditions for long periods of time. Ability to recognize unsafe working conditions to ensure that appropriate safety precautions are taken to ensure employee safety. Skills in the operation of equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
Work requires moderate intermittent physical strength and effort daily. Work includes lifting, moving, and positioning/loading heavy objects (up to 100 lbs.), pulling, pushing, remain stationary or move about for the full workday may also be involved. Driving in adverse weather troublesome road conditions may be required.
Duties may involve assignments requiring application of hand and eye coordination with finger dexterity and motor coordination. Examples include operating a motor vehicle, operates a personal computer or ascends / descends a ladder.
Employee constantly performs work outdoors on a variety of public works projects.
Employee is exposed to equipment/machinery, noise, odors, chemical fumes, dust, smoke, heat, cold, oil, dirt or grease, and risk of personal injury when working along busy public roads, and sidewalks. Work is continually performed outdoors, regardless of weather conditions.
Employees must have the ability to make good judgment when making decisions regarding their regular job duties and be able to have the following mental functions: reading, simple math calculations, and withstanding moderate amounts of stress.
