About this Role
FiberTel is looking for a Heavy Equipment Operator for our Sacramento, CA to Reno, NV project.
The Heavy Equipment Operator will be responsible for safely and skillfully operating and maintaining construction equipment (cable plows, backhoe, mini excavator, skid steer, rock saw, and other utility construction equipment). This position will be responsible for the safe transportation of materials and equipment. He/she will load and unload equipment and material as needed.
Pay: $27-35/hr base -
Subject to CA an NV Prevailing Wage Rates which may change depending on work location and job duties. Rates can go upwards of $65-74/hr.

Distinguishing Characteristics
This position involves the safe and efficient operation of various types of construction equipment including but not limited to loaders, backhoes, skid steers, excavators, truck cranes, bulldozers, haul trucks, water trucks, railroad track equipment, on track equipment tampers, regulators, track stabilizers, tie cranes, tie inserters, spike pullers, spike drivers, and speed swings as well as other equipment. When not operating equipment, incumbents also perform physical labor in the maintenance, repair, and modification of tracks system wide. This class is distinguished from the Track Maintainer that the Heavy Equipment Operator I performs physical labor incidental to the primary function of equipment operation.
This position is designated as Safety-Sensitive in accordance with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and will participate in a random testing pool under those guidelines.
Supervision Received and Exercised
This position reports to the Maintenance of Way Supervisor and has no direct supervisory responsibility. This position is expected to participate in the sharing of expert knowledge and as a vital member of the maintenance of way team.
Working Conditions
Normal working conditions for this position are in an operational field setting. Individuals in this position must be able to work safely to prevent on-the-job accidents and injuries, wear protective equipment including hearing protection, safety-toe boots, safety glasses and other Personal Protective Equipment items as assigned by NCTD.
The railroad operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This position may be subject to shift changes and overtime. They must be able to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Work may include exposure to inclement weather conditions.

* Perform railroad track maintenance, repair, and installation.
* Handle, unload and move track materials and equipment from rail cars, carts, or trucks.
* Maintain track beds by cutting vegetation and brush when needed, and sweeping, picking, and digging dust from movable track parts.
* Inspect, clear, and maintain drainage facilities.
* Remove and replace ballast; tamp ballast; unload or assist in unloading ballast from ballast cars.
* Safely and effectively operate various types of tools and equipment such as hammers, jacks, and other mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic tools.
* Observe and inspect the condition of the railroad tracks, track beds and right-of-way for problems or defects per the Federal Railroad Administration and California Public Utilities Commission regulations. Through visual inspections identify broken rails, defective switches, and signals, deteriorating track bed, track obstructions and weather-related problems; check switch points; observe right-of-way and passing trains for shifted loads and spillage.
* Must be willing and able to work around large equipment such as railcars, locomotives cranes, off track equipment and on on-track equipment.
* Understand and follow NCTD and industry safety rules, practices, and procedures.
* Wear prescribed safety apparel and personal protective equipment.
* Complete written forms and reports as required.
* Perform flagging duties as may be required.

Qualifications
Education/Experience
* High School diploma or GED required. Technical school or apprenticeship program in related field is preferred.

Work Schedules
Weather conditions and the number of guests play a large role in the work scheduling of Dodge Ridge employees.
When conditions are normal, you may be expected to work up to 40 hours per week, including weekends and holidays. During busy periods, you may be expected to work six (6) days a week.
You must arrange for transportation to work so that you arrive at your designated workstation at the scheduled time. Keep in mind that you will often be required to drive on hilly, snowpacked, and icy road surfaces.
Working Conditions

The Equipment Operations Engineer is responsible for ensuring reliability, compliance, and operational availability of laboratory equipment across clinical and research environments in adherence to Veracyte's equipment lifecycle management program. Responsibilities:
Support optimization and adherence to the equipment lifecycle program and processes from procurement, installation, qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ), calibration, and preventive maintenance to decommissioning.
Independently manage equipment systems, including internal investigations and service coordination, documentation, and continuous improvement related to equipment performance. Troubleshoot and support root cause investigations for equipment failures and implement correct actions.
Support cross-functional efforts related to new equipment onboarding, equipment relocations, obsolescence planning, and lab expansions.
Coordinate maintenance, calibration, verification, and qualification activities across internal stakeholders (R&D and CLIA) and external service vendors to minimize impact on lab workflows while ensuring regulatory compliance.
Maintain accurate and compliant documentation for all equipment-related activities, support audits, inspections, and internal reviews.

Support investigations as SME in NCR's and CAPA's as needed.
Support development and authoring equipment specifications, user requirements, and IQ/OQ protocols. Support equipment qualification activities.
Ensure all equipment and processes meet quality and regulatory standards (CLIA, CAP, IVD, and/or FDA regulations).
Adhere to procedures and policies outlined within Veracyte's quality management system.
Who You Are:
4-6 years of related experience with a BS/BA or higher degree (2-4 yrs with a Masters Degree) in an Engineering field or equivalent work experience.
4-6 years of hands-on experience in equipment engineering or reliability engineering within a highly regulated environment.
4-6 years of experience developing/writing equipment qualification plans, calibration strategies, and maintenance & operation procedures.
Familiarity with lab instrumentation, preventive maintenance, and calibration standards.
Effective analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex equipment issues and drive resolution independently or collaboratively.
Proficient with common software tools (e.g. Microsoft Office, Google Suite).
Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work cross-functionally.
