CITY OF GALLATIN The purpose of this position is to perform semiskilled work in a variety of construction, repair and maintenance assignments involving the use of specialized tools; operates specialized and other equipment in connection with the semiskilled tasks to which assigned. Work is performed under regular supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
1. Performs general street, utility, building and grounds work and other maintenance.
2. Operates dump truck and light to medium construction equipment.
3. Installs and constructs drainage and roadway infrastructure.
4. Repairs potholes, utility cuts, cave-ins, performs general street maintenance and repair work.
5. Prepares and lays asphalt.
6. Repairs road shoulders, cleans ditches, cuts and cleans rights-of-way.
7. Does basic carpentry work.
8. Sets forms and finishes concrete.
9. Trims limbs and takes down trees.
10. Repairs tools and equipment of a less complex nature.
11. Operates backhoe, front-end loader, snowplow, dump trucks, utility trucks, ditch witch and similar equipment.
12. Maintains files and records of who delivered materials.
13. Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* High School Diploma/GED.
* Must have 1 year of recent work experience in installation, concrete, or asphalt services.
* Must possess Class B CDL.
* Class A-57 CDL preferred.
* Must have a valid driver's license.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
* Knowledge of the occupational hazards involved and the safety precautions necessary to the proper operation of varied construction and maintenance equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects, and some heavy work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical activities include climbing, balancing, stooping, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, reaching, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions. Also includes the necessity to communicate by talking, hearing/listening. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance and peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus, for operation of machines and equipment, determination accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observation of general surroundings.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The employee is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions including, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, hazards, atmospheric conditions, dust/dirt, grease/oils, paint fumes, moving parts of machinery and extreme weather conditions but hot and cold. Work is generally outdoors.

Heavy Civil Division
. This safety-sensitive role is responsible for operating a variety of large construction equipment, including but not limited to Loaders, Backhoes, Track Hoes, Haul Trucks, and Water Trucks. The position also involves general labor tasks such as shoveling, sweeping, minor maintenance, and assisting with mechanical work to support heavy civil job site operations. . This safety-sensitive role is responsible for operating a variety of large construction equipment, including but not limited to Loaders, Backhoes, Track Hoes, Haul Trucks, and Water Trucks. As a Heavy EquipmentOperator with RAWSO, you will operate a variety of the latest heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner to ensure timely completion of our mass excavation, utility, paving, and concrete projects. We are looking for long-term candidates who value the opportunity for future advancement that our company offers.
What Will You Will Be Doing?
Operate heavy equipment such as haul trucks, excavators, dozers, loaders, skid steers, and graders.
Follow safety regulations appropriately. Safety is our #1 priority!
Communicate with the team on the jobsite to keep them safe and complete work correctly
Perform daily checks on equipment to ensure proper operating condition
Clean equipment and maintain equipment as scheduled
Park and store equipment safely at the end of each day
Cooperate with others in a team environment
Other duties as assigned
Work in inclement weather
Be able to lift, push, pull in excess of 50 lbs
Work Conditions: exposure to loud noise, dust and toxic materials, work in confined space

2+ Years of verifiable experience as a heavy equipmentoperator on heavy civil projects
Knowledge of heavy equipment and their uses

Essential Functions
Direct truck drivers during loading and unloading
Operate scale, record weights and dimensions accurately
Operate packaging equipment to securely transport inbound, cross-dock, and outbound loads
Load and unload material at the standard rate of production
