Finish Loader Operator- are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Loader which is equipped with a front-mounted, hydraulically powered bucked or scoop and is used to transport aggregate or other materials, feed hoppers or chutes, and/or stockpile aggregates on a Grade Crew.
Responsibilities:
Operate the Loader and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment as well as routine cleaning to ensure smooth operation of the Loader.
Operate the Loader controls to lower and tilt bucket and drive forward to force bucket into bulk material, move lever to raise and tilt bucket when filled, or to dump material.
Ensure a sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance.
Operate Loader on public or private roadways, maintaining proper awareness of one's surroundings.
Understand and follow directions from supervisors as to required work area.
Perform job tasks in an outdoor setting which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity and exposure to dust and asphalt.
Desired Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age
Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift to 40 pounds
2+ years' experience in similar position
Knowledge of road construction materials, processes and industry requirements
Knowledge of Loader and other heavy equipment and understanding of computerized controls and electronics
Able to work independently or as an active member of a team
Out-of-town travel and/or overtime is a possibility
English and Spanish fluency a plus, but is not required
High school diploma/GED preferred

Roles & Responsibilities
Essential Accountabilities:
* Safely and efficiently operate a front-end loader to lift, transport, and load bulk aggregate materials to and from various areas of the plant property.
* Perform and document daily equipment inspections of the front-end loader.
* Perform regular preventative maintenance of the front-end loader including but not limited to:
* Check and maintain all fluid levels as described by the equipment manufacturer including water, oil, transmission, and hydraulic fluids.
* Check and maintain tire pressure as described by the equipment manufacturer.
* Grease all hubs and other components as described by the equipment manufacturer.
* Keep the rubber-tire front-end loader clean both inside and outside.
* Operate the radial stacker conveyor to deliver required aggregate materials into appropriate storage bins or hoppers maintaining appropriate fill levels.
Other Responsabilities:
* Verify by visual inspection the amount of aggregate materials stored on the plant premises and ensure that adequate supply is maintained.
* Assist with plant maintenance and service as requested by the Plant Manager including welding and greasing plant belts.
* Monitor and report mechanical problems associated with plant equipment to the Plant Manager.
* Maintain the bulk material stockpiles.
General Duties:
* Ensure that Mixer Truck Washdown area and other areas of the yard are kept clean and free of debris:
* Uses high-pressure water hose.
* Clean and maintain mixer truck washout pits in accordance with company procedures.
* Properly handle and maintain inventory of reclaimed washout material.
* Properly keep clean and maintain general exterior yard areas and plant premises including but not limited to:
1. Regular sweeping and mopping.
2. Litter and debris removal.
3. Emptying of exterior waste bins.
4. Maintain yard in accordance with environmental regulations.
5. Maintain clean and sanitary breakroom and restroom facilities, as assigned.

What You'll Do:

Skills You'll Need:
Experience. 2 years experience operating loaders and dozers in a plant environment preferred.
Functional and Safety Knowledge. Must have a solid knowledge and understanding of the equipment's capabilities and specifications of different finished materials. Must recognize various products by sight and understand proper plant operation. Must have a solid knowledge and understanding of OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations. Must have hazard recognition skills.

Completes U.S. Army Corps of Engineers canal inspections and maintenance, road grading, culvert installation and low water crossings.
Operates forestry equipment for various tasks including prescribed burning, disking and chopping underbrush.
Participates in all aspects of the District's emergency operations during storm events, wildfires and other declared emergencies.
Operates loaders, dozers, excavators, tractors, transports, graders, skidders, boom mower, dump trucks, light and heavy vehicles, back-hoe, skid steer, gooseneck trailers, and chainsaws.
Enters data for timecards, work orders, vehicle/fuel logs, reports, e-mails, and District Cyber training classes.
