About this Position Skilled work in the operation of various types of heavy equipment, including operating a backhoe to expose utility breaks or to install new utility lines. Operate an end loader to backfill ditches or load trucks. Operate the sand spreader to control Ice and snow on streets and parking. Grade surfaces with a box blade and drive a dump truck. Operate street sweeper. Operate yard crane to load or unload large pieces of equipment, perform related tasks as required. Service equipment and advise the foreman of needed repairs. Ensure digging permits are properly completed before digging.
Provide routine labor to support projects as assigned.

High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before the agreed-upon start date)
Two years of experience in the operation of heavy equipment listed in B-3 or similar equipment in the construction or agricultural industries.
Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:
Have before hire and maintain after hire, a valid driver's license. A valid driver's license must be maintained for the operation of an OSU vehicle, which is required in the performance of job duties as assigned, and a Class B Commercial Driver's License.
Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
Ability to read, write, and follow oral instructions for work orders, work completion, and scheduling.
Ability to become proficient in the use of “AiM” Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software and the use of mobile technology.

**SUMMARY**
Associates with the title of **Power EquipmentOperator** must demonstrate proficiency and meet all productivity and quality requirements of the following duties and responsibilities.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Operate battery-operated and/or gas-powered equipment, (other than motorized pallet jacks), for the purpose of transporting product to and from inventory storage locations within the facility. Equipment includes, but is not limited to, Forklifts, Stock pickers, Wave Work-Assist vehicles, Sit-Down and Stand-Up Counterbalanced trucks, Reach trucks, etc.
+ Must follow all power equipment rules and regulations, including any regulatory agency policies, to include OSHA.
+ Must use all personal protective safety equipment, including lanyards and harnesses to be worn at all times when operation order/stock pickers.
+ Must follow all facility safety rules and regulations at all times.
+ Demonstrate the ability to perform all scanner functions necessary for the position, including cycle-counts, replenishment, item inquiry, inventory put away, etc.
+ Ensure all product is stacked neatly and safely when moved via power equipment and when stored in rack or staging locations
+ Maintain accuracy of all inventory movement at all times.
+ Inspect and perform or assist in equipment maintenance as required; report any unsafe conditions to management.
+ Responsible for the careful handling of all merchandise, avoiding damage, bending or tearing.
+ Participate in Physical Inventory and Customer Appreciation Warehouse Sale events.
+ Consistently meet minimum required production, accuracy or quality standards for the work performed.
+ When necessary, assist in the processing of returned book fairs, by unpacking metal cases, boxes, and displays with book and non-book product, according to corporate process and procedure and meeting productivity and quality standards.
+ When necessary, assist in the picking and packing of customer reorders
+ Ensure that your work area is neat, clean, safe, and organized at all times.
+ Individually, and in partnership with other co-workers, perform seasonal inventory production-line resets.
+ When applicable, assist in the loading and unloading of trucks. The loading and unloading of trucks may or may not require the assistance of mechanical devices.
+ Ensure that all warehouse equipment and tools are properly utilized to increase productivity, efficiency, and safety; report any unsafe conditions, damaged equipment or injury (to self or co-worker) to your supervisor or manager immediately.
+ Utilize proper techniques for lifting, packing, and handling heavy objects.
+ Accurately and timely complete Labor Data Collection Cards to according to company standards.
+ Maintain attendance and punctuality as required by assigned work schedule and within company standards.
+ Maintain a courteous and positive relationship with all co-workers and customers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Direct, train, and supervise Drill Operators to ensure tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with the exploration plan and procedures.
Collaborate with the Exploration Supervisor and Quarry Operations to plan and schedule drilling and sample testing.
Operate the drill rig as an active driller when required by project demands, personnel coverage, or for on-the-job training and supervision.
Perform and oversee gradation size analysis and log drill hole samples to assess material quality and determine sand and stone content.
Enforce company policies and comply with all local, state, and federal regulations (MSHA, OSHA, etc.) for safe and environmentally responsible operations.
Manage logistical requirements for site access and drilling readiness, including permits, utility locates, coordination with operations on site-specific needs, and staging of tools and materials for the crew.
Oversee drill rig maintenance by tracking and maintaining parts inventory, submitting weekly purchase orders, and performing preventative maintenance. Document and recommend major repairs or upgrades to optimize rig uptime.
Accurately update GIS database with utility locations, final drill data, water-elevation, and collapse depths.
Assist with technical evaluations of exploration data and ensure permit lines and bonded area lines are properly marked in the field.
Maintain regular, reliable attendance at the worksite or assigned work location.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum 5 years of exploration drilling experience required.
Valid Oklahoma Class A Commercial Driver's License.
Current OWRB (OK Water Resource Board) Commercial Drilling Certificate or ability to obtain within one year of hire.

POSITION DESIGNATION

JOB SUMMARY
This posting will be used to fill a current vacancy in the Streets and Drainage Maintenance Division of the Public Works Department. An eligibility list will be established or supplemented for filling future vacancies per provisions of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Collective Bargaining Agreement. The skills, knowledge, and abilities required for full performance must be acquired prior to assuming the position. Essential job functions include: driving and/or operating various pieces of light, heavy and/or very heavy construction or maintenance equipment used in activities, such as, construction excavation, asphalt stripping etc., and assuming responsibility for following all safety and maintenance procedures relating to the proper operation and condition of the assigned equipment. The primary equipment used may include: earth movers, large motor graders, large bulldozers, large asphalt rollers and pavers, large cranes, Gradalls; Hoptos; scrapers; cranes; tandem trucks; and tractor-trailer rigs. A Construction EquipmentOperator II may also be expected to complete specific tasks including, but not limited to: operating front-end loaders for cutting slope; operating backhoes when digging around underground gas/electrical lines or large water mains; and interpreting construction plans or drawing and performing operations necessary to comply with plan or drawing specifications. Specialized attachments such as snowplows, trailers, winches, etc. may be used to complete less routine job assignments. The incumbent may work independently in delivering materials and equipment or in conjunction with other workers and equipment while on construction or maintenance projects. In the absence of a supervisor the worker may be expected to assume lead-worker responsibility for other employees and equipment and effective completion of projects. Due to equipment malfunctions, limited worker availability, or adverse weather conditions, this classification may be expected to perform crew or maintenance-type tasks. Work instructions are received verbally and in writing, with work reviewed by a supervisor through inspection and written reports or upon completion for compliance with blueprints and overall quality.

Basic Purpose

Level I

This is the career level where incumbents perform skilled work at the full performance level in operating heavy equipment used in highway construction or repair and also perform a variety of routine highway maintenance duties.

Education and Experience requirements at this level are none.
Level II:
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of one year of experience in operating heavy equipment.
Special Requirements
Possession of a valid Oklahoma driver's license at time of employment. Some agencies may require possession of a valid Oklahoma commercial driver's license, class A or B with appropriate endorsements referenced in United States Department of Transportation Title 47, Chapter 6, Section 101 et seq. at time of appointment. Persons appointed to positions at the Oklahoma Department of Transportation or the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority must possess or obtain a commercial driver's license, class A, no later than five months from the date of appointment. ODOT employees are required to have a CDL tank vehicle endorsement.
Applicants must take and pass drug test prior to appointment. Such tests will be administered through the appointing agency. This requirement is referenced in 49 Code of Federal Regulation, parts 40 and 382.
Applicants must be willing and able to perform all job- related travel normally associated with this position; be willing to work hours other than on regular shifts during emergency situations; and possess a telephone in residence to receive emergency on-call duty messages.
