Full Time- Non-Exempt Position. Pay Range: $28.04- 35.84 The Equipment Operator performs skilled and semi-skilled labor and operates light/heavy equipment needed to perform road maintenance and construction of local, county, and state highways, roads, and bridges.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
The following duties are primarily performed and are essential for this position. 40% Highway Maintenance:
Fills cracks, seals chips, mows ditches, paints stripes, installs and repairs road sign, picks up debris, repairs beam guards/cable guards, ditching, repairs gravel shoulders, removes/cuts trees, and maintains/repairs concrete and asphalt roads and bridges.
30% Highway Construction:
Operates asphalt plant, asphalt road paving, operates gravel pit with crushing equipment, replaces culverts, and plans/parks projects (masonry, carpentry, and excavation/grading).
15% Snow/Ice Control:
Operates snowplow/salters, plow controllers, salt brine making/hauling, and installs/removes snow fences.
10% Machine Maintenance:
Performs simple, mechanical maintenance activities on Highway Department equipment including, but not limited to, tri-axle trucks, 5-yard trucks, loaders, backhoes, rollers, mowers, and/or skid steers, and ensure clean, proper operations. Additionally, maintenance, parts ordering and repairs required for Asphalt Plant & Gravel Pit Crusher operations.
5% Maintains Individual Shops:
Cleans lunchroom/bathrooms, and grounds maintenance.

Minimum Education Qualifications
Education and/or Experience Requirements:
High school degree.
Multiple years of construction and/or skilled labor abilities, and good communication skills.

MSHA certifications.

A Day in the Life
