Operating hydrovac equipment and performing hydrovac duties in a variety of working environments, including confined spaces
Driving our hydrovac trucks (10-15% of total work time)
Attending safety meetings
Performing routine inspections and minor repairs of the hydrovac equipment
Preparing work areas by setting up safety measures and addressing potential hazards
Documenting and reporting all Badger, Federal, State, and Customer paperwork accurately and efficiently
What We're Looking For:
Must have a valid Class A or B CDL
CPR/First Aid, Fall Protection and OSHA 10 certification
(preferred)
Experience driving a manual transmission (10-18 speed) without automatic restrictions
(preferred)
Ability to work variable shifts with extended hours
Must be willing to travel up to 25%
Must be able to lift, push, pull 50+ pounds and have the physical stamina for manual labor in varying weather conditions
Prior hydrovac equipment operations or related industrial experience

Must be at least 21 years of age

With your expertise in operating heavy machinery, you will skillfully maneuver machinery around sensitive utilities and structures while providing support to projects.
Drawing on your knowledge of ground construction, you'll contribute to efforts such as maintaining gravel roads, fish transport, pipeline repairs and replacements, sediment removal at hatchery intake structures, and even bridge installations of up to 60 feet.
Your work will directly support wildlife, fisheries, and the public, while helping the Department achieve its goals.
What to Expect-
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Heavy Equipment Operator will,
Operate Heavy Equipment:
* Expertly operate construction and earth moving equipment, including:
* Excavators of various sizes.
* Track loaders more than 70 net flywheel horsepower.
* Wheel loaders more than 80 net flywheel horsepower.
* Rollers.
* Rubber tired loader/backhoe combination 51 net flywheel horsepower.
* Operate laser levels to shoot grades and establish various elevations of a jobsite, correct, or maintain grade/elevations.
* Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, and specifications.
* Read grading plans and cut and fill stakes.
* Provide expertise in the recommendations of material and equipment staging, utility location, etc.
* Locate underground utilities and obstructions, such as pipes and wires, prior to commencement of work.
Truck Driving:
* Operate vehicles rated at 80,000 Gross Combined Weight (GCW) or more, including semi-tractor/trailer equipment.
* Operate trucks with lowboy trailers and 12-yard dump trucks to spread aggregate on road base.
* Load, unload, and transport equipment, materials, and supplies.
Fish Transport:
* Operate water tankers up to 6,000 gallons to safely transport live fish statewide.
* Disinfect tankers after each fish transfer to prevent the spread of disease.
* Monitor live fish during transport, installing and maintaining liquid oxygen tanks.
* Perform water quality tests to ensure dissolved oxygen levels are maintained.
Plumbing:
* Install, maintain, and repair culverts, catch basins, sanitary and stormwater sewers, and domestic water piping.
* Cut, align, and position pipes for welding or sealing.
* Check slopes for conformance to requirements, using levels and lasers.
* Inspect water mains, fixtures, and valves; perform repairs such as disassembling valves, replacing parts, reassembling, and testing.
Equipment Repair and Fabrication:
* Diagnose and repair problems in the field with vehicles and equipment.
* Perform fabrication and body work while using equipment such as oxyacetylene, arc welders, and grinding wheels.
* Complete body work to damaged vehicles from start to finish.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work Setting, including hazards:
* Duties are performed at construction sites in the Hatcheries and Wildlife Areas, and on occasion in an office setting.
* Hazards include working on rough terrain, riverbanks, slippery slopes, and other surfaces, confined and difficult to reach spaces, and all types of weather conditions, including extreme heat, rain, or snow.
* Bend, stoop, squat, twist, push, pull, and occasionally lift 50 pounds repetitively when loading/unloading trucks or moving materials around a project site.
* Operate motor vehicles in hazardous weather conditions, such as snow and ice while on mountain passes, highways, and paved/unpaved roads.
* This position will involve working in or near water, including tasks that require navigating, negotiating, and performing duties related to water environments.
Schedule:
Typically, Monday-Thursday, 6:00 A.M. - 4:30 P.M. Work additional hours as needed/requested. May include overnight stays and evening and weekend work.
Travel Requirements:
Travel required 60-80% depending on season.

Basic Functions: This is a Non-Exempt position. Short Notice position is an on-call role, and applicants must be prepared to report to work within one hour of receiving notification. Work duties shall include maintenance. Education and Training:
Requires a High School diploma and 5 years of work experience which involves the operation of heavy equipment and experience driving commercial vehicles.

Summary:

We are looking for an individual who has some experience in operating any and all core equipment, which includes dozers, excavators, backhoes, and loaders.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Load dump trucks and trailers with product.
- Screening topsoil.
- Movement of material in the yard.
- Yard Maintenance.
- Sorting materials.
- Crushing concrete and asphalt.
- Tarp bunkers.
- Maintaining material stockpiles.
- Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment and clean, lubricate, and refill equipment.
Required Skills:
- Experience with screening plants.
- Experience with crushing plants.

About the Project
Koolyanobbing is in the Shire of Yilgarn, Western Australia, 54 km north-northeast of the town of Southern Cross.
Thiess, Yilgarn Iron Ore Project is a Brownfields mining operation that includes the sites of Koolyanobbing, Windarling and Parker Range.
Thiess are currently seeking applications from experienced Dozer Operators to proudly represent our Production Mining Team. You will live for challenges and thrive on the variety of work available. In this role, you will:
Operating machinery efficiently, safely, and competently to ensure maximum output
Complying with Thiess' policies and procedures
Responding to instructions from Mining Supervisor
Ensuring floor levels are maintained
Minimising dilution and achieving design parameters within acceptable tolerances
Maintain stockpiles, dumps and haul roads to ensure flow in a safe and efficient manner
Operate, drive and move material as directed to prepare operating areas and roads
Setting and maintain high housekeeping standards
Carrying out pre-start checks
About you
Minimum 3 years experience operating a Dozer in a production mining operation
Equivalent or specific experience operating CAT D10
Possess strong mining operational skills and be able to demonstrate your ability in maintaining pit floors and bunds in a mining production environment
Sound knowledge and understanding of ore mark ups and pit configuration
Valid Australian Drivers License
Proven compliance and commitment to health and safety at all times
