The Crane Operator is responsible and accountable to the Yard Supervisor
Supervises:
None.
The Crane Operator is responsible to maintain and operate overhead crane and forklift to lift, move and position loads in a safe manner.
Plan, specify, and position rigging equipment for accomplishing work in a safe and efficient manner.
Operating cranes to offload and backload tugs, barges, and etc.
Manipulate crane controls to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement according to written, verbal or signal instruction.
Determine load weights and check them against lifting capacities to prevent overloading.
Clean, lubricate, and maintain the crane, including mechanisms such as cables, pulleys, or grappling devices, making repairs as necessary.
Inspect cables or grappling devices for wear and install or replace cables as needed.
Complete daily checklist, delivery logs, maintenance schedule and all other necessary paperwork neatly and accurately.
Maintaining the appearance of the forklift and crane by keeping it clean, free of debris and painted.
Follow all safety procedures during all crane and forklift operations.
Know and understand McAllister's Safety Policy and comply with all the requirements of the Quality Safety Management System.
Assisting other departments as needed.
Ensuring personnel under your direction work in a safe and efficient manner.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Proven experience working with an overhead crane, in all types of weather conditions.
Licensed as required under federal, state and local law.
Crane Operator Certificate from a nationally recognized and accredited certification program preferred.
Current Transportation Workers Identification Card.
Physical Requirements:
The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
The employee will frequently use both hands to grasp rails while climbing, to hold and carry tools equipment, to operate tools and machinery.
The employee must be able to lift 50 pounds or more on a consistent basis.

This position requires a person willing to be a “jack of all trades,” in that operator experience is necessary, but the ability to hop off the machine and work within the crew performing other tasks such as maintenance, prep, clearing/cutting, pipe installation above/below ground, welding, minor carpentry, HDPE fusion and other field construction tasks is required. The ideal candidate must also have an excellent work ethic, a willingness to learn new skills, have a team mentality, and be safety-oriented in all situations and environments. In turn, there are many opportunities for growth, promotion, and compensation.
The compensation for this position, while commensurate with operating experience, can pay more than most due to the need to do more than just operateequipment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Construction Experience-5 years minimum
The ability to operate various types of bulldozers, excavators, and front loaders is required
Driver's License-Required and in good standing; CDL preferred, but not necessary

About the role
The Loader Operator will operate front-end loaders, roll-off trucks, forklifts and other heavy equipment to push waste into the tipping pit, separate and load non-processable materials from tipping floors or pits, and transports material to various other facility buildings from the tip floor and metal storage areas.
This individual will load ash into trucks from the ash building, unders/primary/secondary soils from designated storage areas, biomass material from designated building, belt and floor rejects from RTI, and ferrous processed by DMR from west bunker.
This candidate will communicate with traffic control operator on tipping floor to maintain steady flow of traffic and provide code numbers of loaded material to truck drivers removing material from the site. This will include providing Reworld hauling tickets to driver prior to leaving the scale house.
Performing safety and operational inspections as well as small preventive maintenance procedures daily, including pressure cleaning of the equipment assigned to this position; completing PM sheets and work orders as required.
