    The Utilities team of the Community Services Department is seeking an individual to be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy motor equipment used in public works construction and maintenance activities including bulldozers, graders, mechanized rollers, snow removal equipment, loaders, backhoes, street sweepers, and similar types of heavy equipment. This is a full-time, non-exempt, 40 hour per week position with a fantastic full time benefit package offering. $24.43 to $35.37 per hour. Position is open until filled. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Except as specifically noted, the following functions are considered essential to this position. The listed examples may not include all duties found in this class): 1. Operate assigned heavy construction and maintenance equipment in support of loading and transporting road construction materials, debris and equipment; excavation and road repair and maintenance work; and repair and maintenance of City facilities and equipment. 2. Service equipment and make minor field repairs; report need for major repair to supervisor and mechanics. 3. As assigned, direct the work of unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled workers involved in routine maintenance and construction activities related to public works and utilities field operations. 4. Operate vehicles in such a manner as to maintain the mechanical and structural integrity of assigned vehicles and in compliance with all laws, ordinances, policies and procedures at all times. 5. Prepare and operate equipment, on an emergency and seasonal basis, for snow removal and other seasonal clean up operations. 6. Perform various semi-skilled tasks essential to department and city operations when not engaged in heavy equipment operations. 7. Knowledge of the maintenance requirements, work hazards, safety practices and traffic laws relating to heavy equipment operation. 8. Maintains availability when requested to meet emergency situations. 9. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with employees, other departments and agencies, and the general public. 10. Maintains familiarity with and executes safe work procedures associated with assigned work. 11. Performs other related duties as required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of the functions, operating methods and care required of the heavy equipment used in public works and utilities projects. Knowledge of the maintenance requirements of heavy equipment and to detect equipment deficiencies and make necessary operational adjustments. Knowledge of the work hazards, safety practices and traffic laws relating to heavy equipment operation. Ability to understand, follow, and give oral and written instructions. Sufficient physical strength, conditioning and agility to perform strenuous manual labor for extended periods of time under varying weather and climactic conditions. EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma or equivalent. Three (3) years experience in the operation and maintenance of heavy construction and maintenance equipment OR an equivalent combination of education and experience, which demonstrates possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the position. Must maintain valid New Hampshire CDL B with Air Brake Endorsement and Tanker Endorsement, CDL-A with endorsements preferred. Earn It and Love It: Steady Schedule + Seasonal Overtime to Keep Our Customers Smiling: Monday - Friday, 4:00pm - 12:30am $23.00 per hour + 10% shift differential = $25.30 JOB SUMMARY Physically load and unload product off/on trucks. Accurately pick items according to order slips or by using RF scanning equipment. Pack and prepare orders for shipment, ensuring they are properly labeled and meet quality standards. Assist in organizing and maintaining warehouse cleanliness and order. Identify damaged, missing, or incorrect items and report discrepancies to management. Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Operate warehouse equipment such as standup forklifts, powered riding pallet jacks, and reach trucks, Comply with all company policies and local, state, and federal regulations regarding warehouse operations. Work collaboratively with other team members to achieve overall warehouse objectives. Communicate effectively with supervisors and other departments to ensure a seamless workflow. Requirements: Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience operating Reach Truck, Order Picker, Stand-up Forklift, and/or Walkie Rider preferred. Previous experience in a warehouse or similar environment preferred. Experience with inventory management and RF scanners. Understand numbers and letters on an RF scanner minimum. Skills & Abilities Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines. Physical stamina and ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Basic math and computer skills in English or least the ability to read numbers and letters. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, reach, squat, climb stairs, and lift for extended periods. Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including heat, cold, and humidity. Ability to work overtime including Saturdays.
