    Job Description Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator Pay: $19/hr Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM Shift: 1st Shift We are seeking a skilled and dependable Heavy Equipment Operator to support operations involving the collection and transportation of materials from designated locations. This role involves operating motorized equipment, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring safe and efficient site practices. This is a full-time position with a consistent daytime schedule and occasional weekend or holiday rotation (not to exceed 40 hours per week). Essential Duties & Responsibilities Operate heavy trucks and equipment to collect and transport containers from designated sites. Maintain detailed records of equipment usage, materials handled, and routes completed. Conduct daily inspections and perform light maintenance on trucks and equipment. Identify and report equipment breakdowns or service needs to supervisor and assist in repairs when necessary. Communicate regularly with supervisor to receive instructions and report issues. Follow safe driving practices and all applicable traffic laws. Survey collection sites and report any operational or environmental issues. Ensure that only authorized materials are collected and transported. Check equipment daily for fluid levels, tire pressure, lights, and other safety components. Complete maintenance logs and repair requests as needed. Fuel vehicles and equipment and ensure they are kept clean, inside and out. Skills & Qualifications Understanding of safe public service and communication techniques. Ability to operate, maintain, and inspect heavy motorized equipment. Capable of performing physically demanding work in various weather conditions. Familiarity with identifying authorized vs. prohibited materials. Ability to work independently and troubleshoot daily operational issues. Strong attention to safety and regulatory compliance. Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with others. Education & Experience Less than high school diploma or GED accepted. Prior experience operating heavy equipment preferred. Equivalent combination of experience and training will be considered. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently and up to 100 lbs occasionally. Regular movement including climbing, pushing/pulling, bending, kneeling, and crawling. Exposure to outdoor elements, mechanical vibrations, and potentially hazardous materials. Must be able to operate vehicles, perform visual inspections, and complete written reports.
