* Drives, uses, and operates large equipment including loaders, excavators, back hoes, and other heavy motorized machines; uses equipment to assist, support, and help various crews with activities, jobs, and projects.
* Operates, maintains, and uses slope mowers, flat mowers, and brush cut equipment to perform various construction maintenance tasks; skillfully uses a front end loader to load, unload, and move various materials.
* Drives a dump truck to and from job sites and other areas within the City; hauls concrete, asphalt, dirt, and other materials; ensures materials are handled, moved, and disposed of in the appropriate way.
* Activates controls to dump refuse into piles, containers, or dump trucks; operates low boy, hauling equipment, and trailers; adheres to storage, dumping, and safety standards; performs skills with proficiency and completes tasks with competency and efficiency.
* Uses excavators and operates excavating equipment with proficiency; digs out various construction areas, performs extensive clearing, cleaning, and material moving for ponds, ditches, swales, and other necessary areas.
* Performs routine safety and pre/post operational checks on equipment to include monitoring and maintenance of oil, fluids, coolant, filters, lights, brooms, greasing all bearings and fittings, changing out brooms and washing unit daily.
* Wears proper personal protective equipment; understands and applies all safety and hazard precautions, regulations and protocols.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Licenses, Certifications, and Equipment:
A valid State driver's license is required.
Forklift License within 90 days of hire.
Tanker Endorsement within 90 days of hire
Type: Possession of Class B CDL with necessary endorsements based on area of assignment. Obtain and maintain a Class A-5 within 1 year of hire date.
This position is required to operate the below equipment, machines, tools, and other work aides:
Trucks (dump), roll-off trucks, slope mower, front end loader, bulldozer, backhoe, track hoe, skid-steer loaders, excavators, trenchers, shovels, rakes, hammers, post hole diggers, all hand tools and other power and manual tools and equipment required to perform the work including proper personal protective gear.
The employee must have construction knowledge, be able to demonstrate equipmentoperation and have a good working knowledge of most construction duties and responsibilities. Basic computer skills for communicating via email and for utilizing the City's intranet system and GIS to obtain information is highly desirable and is a necessary skill to learn prior to qualifying for internal promotional opportunities.
Education and Experience:

Responsibilities
Work under the direction of the Lead Operator, Earthwork Foreman, Earthwork Superintendent, and/or other designated project leads
Follows and maintains safe operating procedures and protocols for all equipmentoperation and field activity in accordance with Moretrench safety policy and OSHA requirements
Safely performs physical duties associated with operation of Moretrench heavy equipment including but not limited to bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, handling, climbing into and out of, and around heavy equipment
Works safely in a wide variety of climatic conditions and job site environments commonly found at Moretrench job sites
Performs daily greasing and fluid checks and assumes responsibility for the maintenance and safe operation of any and all assigned pieces of equipment
Inspects assigned equipment prior to each use; and makes appropriate, accurate, and timely entries into the operator's checklist / equipment log for each piece of equipmentoperated
Immediately reports any equipment damage, maintenance problems or concerns and safety issues to the Foreman and/or Superintendent
Follows direction of the Foreman and/or Superintendent to overcome issues with changing and/or unforeseen field conditions or project scope
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years' experience operating multiple pieces of heavy equipment at Class A operator level
Extensive experience in heavy equipmentoperations involving mass excavations; clearing and grubbing; backfilling and compacting; excavating and pipe laying; and construction and maintenance of embankments, berms, and dikes
In the case of a truck loading excavator, the ability to fully and safely load loads trucks in an efficient manner to meet the goals of the project
Demonstrate the skills of a finish grade operator (tolerance of 1/10 of a foot or better) on at least one piece of equipment, dozer or excavator
Skilled and fully competent in using GPS system as a grading tool to achieve grades
Skilled at the practice of operating safely on worksites according to OSHA, MSHA and Moretrench safety protocols and requirements
Note that all job site locations are remote and temporary, so a form of transportation is required. The vast majority of our work is within a 1 hour drive of Riverview, FL (just outside of Tampa) so our personnel do very little travel
Valid Florida driver's license, or the equivalent
Able to operate heavy machinery for long periods, including evenings and weekends when necessary

- Clean-up job site after work is finished.

- Place temporary asphalt patches or concrete on streets as needed.

Safely operate and/or have the ability to operate various equipment including excavator, front loader, bulldozer, or other heavy equipment and/or steer equipment to bale, load and move waste material. Key Responsibilities: * Operate necessary equipment to bale and load waste or other material into trailers.
* Perform inspection and maintenance checks of equipment daily.
* Grease/lubricate equipment, check and add fluids to equipment daily
* Operator will steer, guide and or drive the above listed equipment at the assigned site, if the equipment is used at the particular site(s) using steering wheel, shifters, levers, buttons and pedals.
* Operator will substitute for another operator if someone is absent from the work crew or as needed/required.
* Operator will clean trash from tracks of heavy equipment by pulling and or cutting material away from tracks and gear mechanisms at least once daily or more if needed.
* Operator will use a two-way radio to communicate with co-workers in the field and or office regarding work activities, Requirements: and priorities for the work day.
* Conform in all respects with applicable federal, state/provincial and local laws, regulations, ordinances and other orders and to all company policies, procedures and directives from supervisors.
