Job Description The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Grounds Equipment Operator 1, Facilities Management [R0146486] ROLE of the POSITION The Grounds Equipment Operator 1 operates a variety of gas and diesel-powered equipment used for grounds maintenance and minor construction activities. Incumbent's perform in a trainee capacity to acquire the knowledge, skills, and abilities required in this occupation. The successful candidate will operate and maintain a variety of gas and diesel and abilities required in this occupation. The successful candidate will operate and maintain a variety of gas and diesel equipment used to mow, fertilize, seed, maintain and repair turf and landscape areas; remove weeds and apply herbicides and pesticides; assist with landscaping and grounds projects; sweep and maintain sidewalks, streets and parking areas; perform general landscape duties such as refuse collection, zone clean-up, shrub and planter bed maintenance; pressure wash buildings and surfaces; and maintain tools, equipment and vehicles. Equipment used may include, but is not limited to, dump trucks, riding and push lawn mowers, edgers, line trimmers, blowers, sod cutters, tractors and attachments, pressure washers, motorized spray equipment and street sweepers. Routine equipment maintenance includes lubricating equipment, inspecting and changing belts, checking and adding fluids, changing filters, sharpening blades, and making adjustments and minor repairs to ensure equipment is in proper working condition. A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Schedule: 6 am to 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
