This is an on-site position for a 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. shift daily, Monday through Friday. Schedule needs may adjust as breaking news and coverage warrant. In coordination with production teams and broadcast operations the Ingest Operator attends to daily tasks, which include scheduling the recording of incoming feeds and file transfers, as well as crash recording in support of ad-hoc requests from News production staff. Responsibilities may also include media management and other tasks in support of the daily ebb and flow of assets into and out of the media production, broadcast, and archive environments. This position will be the on-site authority for the Ingest workflow and will participate in efforts to ensure all coverage, quality, and file naming protocols are maintained. Ideal candidates will have had 2 - 4 years of similar or related experience. Essential Duties: Schedule, metatag, and verify studio and field feeds, file transfers, off-air program recordings, and third-party media recordings within a control room eco-system using integrated ingest capture application(s). Qualify and process all Digital Media Archive and On Demand orders. Perform consistent, accurate, and complete entry of metadata in ingest and archive management tools for all recordings. Perform assorted media management tasks to manage digital storage space properly. Assist News production staff with scheduled and ad-hoc ingest requests and with finding recorded materials. These requests may arrive via Teams, email, phone, or in person. Create database records of video-recorded assets and take steps to organize and process them within the production workflow. Qualifications: 2+ years of experience managing raw feeds, edited packages, and other production materials in a broadcast environment. Experience working in media management and support of a digital media environment. Experience or familiarity with digital workflows as well as broadcast production and post-production. Experience with Avid, Dalet, and Evertz tools/applications is a plus. Familiarity and experience within a broadcast environment, specifically with broadcast production/workflow and archive products. Computer proficient, experienced with production applications and digital asset management (DAM) system(s) a plus. Startup, Operate, shutdown and maintain high-pressure boilers, chillers, Co-Generation equipment, gas powered turbine, Duct Burner and auxiliary equipment throughout powerhouse to supply heat, hot water, steam, compressed air and chilled water to plant facilities. Operate and maintain Waste Reduction Equipment at the Stratford facility. At the request of supervision, investigate suspected problems at the Stratford facility. Typical Responsibilities  Operate and observe functioning of gas/oil burning boilers, chilled water plant machinery, ultra-filtration machinery, waste coolant evaporator and auxiliary equipment from indications of gauges and meters.  Observe and check furnaces, turbines, burners, pressures, water levels, temperatures, steam conditions, oil and water feed pumps and make adjustments of controls, chemicals, blowers and pumps to hold boiler up to pressure and temperature and maintain efficient burner operation.  Observe monitor and check ammonia levels and injection system, chilled water systems to maintain proper water temperature, pressure and flow.  Patrol area including fuel farm and towers, check function of components.  Manually override computer generated settings for towers and pumps as needed, when automatic system fails to or improperly shuts down and/or starts up operation of equipment.  As directed transfer power equipment from steam to electric drive or electric to steam drive, including related air compressor systems to meet changing requirements or conditions.  Log gauges and meter readings, mix and test chemicals for water treatment in Co-Gen equipment, boilers; oil and grease all movable parts as required.  Inspect equipment to ensure safe and proper operation.  Insure equipment is operating economically and under safe conditions.  Take corrective action to meet emergency situations by making repairs or calling for assistance.  Perform air, steam and condensate leak inspections and audits at the Stratford facility.  Perform minor to medium repairs such as pump and valve packing, replacement of gauges and minor repairs to piping systems in the Powerhouse; replacement of defective pressure parts such as gaskets, plugs, covers, etc.  As directed, observe outside contractors for conformance to contractual agreement.  If required maintain and preventative maintenance Fire Pumps at outside buildings.  Cleaning projects, which the employees have the ability to safely perform on equipment related to their area.  Cleaning and restocking of the boiler-room locker-room/bathroom when there is no janitorial service such as on weekends and holidays.  Direct and instruct 1 to 2 helpers in accordance with job requirements.  Perform other related duties as directed.  When emergency or unusual conditions arise in operations of maintenance department, or at request of supervision, may be assigned other maintenance duties usually of a less skilled nature.  Perform operator checklist as required.  Contribute to the overall effectiveness of equipment by performing operator required upkeep.  Follow all rules and regulations pertaining to environmental health and safety.  Segregate waste material and follow good housekeeping practices.  Refer only unusual conditions to supervisor. The Operator - Heavy Equipment is responsible for the safe operation of heavy equipment at a recycling facility, landfill or transfer station for the purpose of transferring, spreading, covering, loading and/or compacting waste or soil in an efficient and safe manner. **Description:** Startup, Operate, shutdown and maintain high\-pressure boilers, chillers, Co\-Generation equipment, gas powered turbine, Duct Burner and auxiliary equipment throughout powerhouse to supply heat, hot water, steam, compressed air and chilled water to plant facilities\. Operate and maintain Waste Reduction Equipment at the Stratford facility\. At the request of supervision, investigate suspected problems at the Stratford facility\. Candidate for this position must be able to operate heavy equipment with complex controls requiring a relatively high degree of skill and manipulative ability. Work of this class is different from that in the class of Automotive Equipment Operator in that the incumbent is expected to operate more complex and specialized equipment and is required to exercise considerably more skill and care in the operation of their equipment to do their assigned tasks. Incumbents are responsible for the routine maintenance of equipment and may be required to perform related manual labor such as shoveling well drilling cuttings and lifting hollow stem augers and Geoprobe rods. Does related work as required. Candidate is required to have and maintain throughout employment in this position a class A or class B commercial driver's license. The appropriate New York State Driver's License as determined by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles, OSHA, DOT and Suffolk County Civil Service for this position. Unused vacation time rolls over each year until a maximum of 420 hours is reached. · Sick Time: Earned at the rate of 1/2 day per pay period totaling 13 days annually. Unused sick time is rolled over each year, with no maximum rollover. · Personal Leave: An employee is granted 4 days of personnel leave each year. Employees receive 7.5 hours on their 1st day and will accrue one additional day every quarter. After employee first anniversary 28 hours of personal days will be frontloaded at the beginning of each year worked. Unused personal time is rolled over into sick each year with no maximum rollover. · Salary: Step increase every 12 months on July 1st completed year of service in addition to contractual raises through 2024. · Membership in the New York State Retirement Pension System 5 year vested.
