Must have valid driver's license & clean driving history. Position covered by a collective bargaining agreement. Facilitates maintenance and repairs of Sheriff Office vehicles to include approx. 60 vehicles consisting of SUV's, transit vans, trucks and commercial passenger buses. Keeps accurate detailed records on fleet maintenance and repair schedule. Regularly checks vehicles fluid levels, lighting, tires (including spare), wiper blades. Communicates with division commanders regarding vehicle needs and scheduling of service by email or face to face communication. Ensures vehicle regulatory compliance, routine maintenance & safety recalls are completed in a timely manner. Assists with fleet budget preparation. The Utility supplies potable water to one wholesale customer: the Caledonia Water Utility, which in turn delivers Racine water to the Village of Wind Point. Direct service is provided to consumers in the Villages of Sturtevant, Mt. Pleasant, Elmwood Park and North Bay. Direct Service includes delivery of pure drinking water, excellent fire protection, repairs and maintenance of the water system, and constant testing to assure potability. The current service area includes all of Racine County east of I-94. POSITION PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to efficiently perform general maintenance, upkeep, and repair of the Racine Water Utility's buildings, equipment, structures, and grounds. Hiring Salary: $58,942 to $65,876 (28.34/hr to $31.67/hr) Essential Duties ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum training and experience required to perform essential job functions. * Possession of high school diploma or GED and at least 18 years of age; Mechanical training and certification in electro-mechanical technology, HVAC, automotive maintenance, pipefitting, or plumbing is preferred. * A minimum of a full 2 years prior professional mechanical experience working with pumps, compressors, blowers, or engines; or a combination of equivalent experience and related education that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities. * Wisconsin DNR Waterworks Operator Surface Water license certification is a plus. * ASOPE and City of Racine Facilities Engineer license is required within 1 year of hire. * Proficiency with computer applications is a plus; including desired knowledge of programmable logic controllers. * Valid driver's license required.
