Later Buell Motorcycle Company was shut down in October 2009.
And then, in 2010, Erik Buell Racing had been finally formed.
On July 1, 2013, Hero MotoCorp, a motorcycle manufacturer based in India, acquired 49.2% stake in the company for $25 million.
In 2013, it was announced that Erik Buell Racing, partnered with Hero, would enter the WSKB series with the EBR 1190RX, which was based off the 1190RS platform.
On April 15, 2015, Erik Buell Racing filed for receivership, with a reported $20 million of liabilities, and ceased all operations including closing down their website.
The 2017 model Black Lightning is created and released under limited production.
2020 Buell develops their first dirt bike in collaboration with the Cipala race team and wins the AMA Hillclimb National Championship.
