Erlanger is seeking a Neuro Stroke Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Stroke team in Chattanooga, TN. This vital role provides advanced, evidence-based care to patients experiencing acute stroke and other neurological conditions. The APP will manage patients from admission through discharge, working both independently and collaboratively with physicians, residents and APPs. The schedule is 7-on / 7-off, rotating between day and night shifts, offering flexibility and balance. Candidates must hold current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Tennessee, maintain national certification, and have ACLS and BLS credentials. Experience in neurology, stroke, or critical care is preferred.
This position is involved in a team-based approach to care. Team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role as per the State of Tennessee/Georgia guidelines. Manages data collection to meet the requirements of a Level I Sate designated Trauma Center and in preparation for verification by the American College of Surgeons (ACS).
Attends TCAC and Tennessee Trauma Registrar group quarterly meetings and State of Tennessee Trauma meetings as assigned.
Works with Trauma Medical Director and Trauma Program Director to develop audit filters, tracking and trending of practice issues, or other system or outcome process related issues.
Responsible for all upgrades, maintenance and software updates for Trauma Registry in collaboration with Trauma Registry technical support company.
Performs data validation reports weekly, with constant monitoring and oversight of all data entry fields in the Trauma Registry. Supervises additional Trauma Registrars and validates 5-10% of data entry, tracks inconsistencies, provides feedback and education as appropriate
Acts as resource/trainer/mentor to Erlanger Health Systems employees, Erlanger affiliates and Regional State institutions
Will assist in preparation and gathering of data to complete American College of Surgeons (ACS) Pre-Review Questionnaire (PRQ), assists in planning, preparation and on-site review process.

Department Position Summary:
The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on North Wing Seven, which is an internal medicine, diabetes, metabolic, cerebral vascular, and telemetry floor. The employee must be able to care for patients with insulin drips, glucose monitoring, cardiac drips, cardiac monitors, cerebral vascular status assessments, and other treatments or assessments necessary for patients with acute or chronic medical conditions.
The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's policies and procedures.
