ERM is hiring Field Biologists to conduct surveys for special status species for a large construction project in Madera and Merced, CA. Successful candidates must be flexible and responsive to a changing work environment where schedules, site locations, and tasks fluctuate according to the needs of the project. The role of a field biologist requires technical skills, as well as strong organizational and communication skills. This is a full-time (40 hours/week), limited-term role with a duration of one year, and the possibility of renewal. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Field biologist position to conduct pre-construction special status species surveys across the client's project area. * Work locations are often remote and require Biologist to work independently. * Electronic data collection. * Handheld and sub-meter accurate GPS data collection. * Daily reporting and survey report compilation. * Other duties as assigned or required. * Compliance with ERM's rigorous safety program. REQUIREMENTS: * At least 2+ years of Biology + Other Special Status Species Experience required. In this critical role, you will be responsible for engaging with client and contractor team members in the field to facilitate safe work practices, embrace client safety culture expectations, and maintain compliance with the client's Contractor Safety Program elements and other applicable safety regulations (e.g., Cal/OSHA, GO 95, 128,165, IBEW Red Book, T&D Grounding Manuals and contractor safety program requirements including TD-1464S). The Safety Specialist will have broad knowledge of Safety compliance programs and, where required, Safety specialty areas This position works to promote a safe work environment by confirming that contractors and the project team, at a minimum, clearly understand the roles and responsibilities related to reviewing drawings; identifying known hazards; and communicating policies, standards, and procedures applicable to the work. The role includes responsibility of timely notification to management and the safety team about any safety issues. Perform Field Safety Observations as established by the frequency and level for each contractor and subcontractor in accordance with the SSSP/PSP. In this role, assess a client's activities to determine their environmental impact, identify risks and potential contamination, and develop strategies to comply with regulations and promote sustainability.
