In 1998, version 1.0 of the new anti-virus system, called NOD32, was released for the Windows operating system, the numbers in the title reflected the translation of the program code on a 32-bit basis.
In 2002, ESET took part for the first time on its own at CeBIT in Hanover, Germany.
In 2007, ESET introduced a new version of its antivirus, changing its name, NOD32 Antivirus 3.0, as well as a new product, NOD32 Smart Security supplementing the antivirus with firewall and antispam features.

In 2009, a new version of these products was introduced - 4.0.
In 2010, the current version was updated to version 4.2, and also introduced new solutions: for Mac OS X - ESET Cybersecurity, and later - for mobile devices with Windows and Symbian OS ESET Mobile Security.
In autumn, ESET became one of the best European companies and was awarded the HSBC European Business Awards 2011.
In 2012 - a new version upgrade to 6.0, while the Anti-Theft module was included in Smart Security.
