ESL Federal Credit Union company history timeline

1920

In 1920, George Eastman founded Eastman Savings & Loan Association.

1921

According to the February 1921 edition of Kodak magazine, “One of the prime objectives of the Eastman Savings & Loan Association is to encourage and aid as many as possible of our employees in purchasing and owning a home.”

1995

1995 Our first community branch opens in Irondequoit.

1996

On February 1, 1996, Eastman Savings and Loan changed its charter from a United States bank to a Federal Credit Union, changing its name to ESL Federal Credit Union.

According to ESL CEO Faheem Masood, the program was first implemented in 1996 and represents part of the bank's mission to share its financial success with its members.

1997

1997 ESL Investment Services, LLC, is established as a wholly owned subsidiary of ESL.

2010

2010 ESL opens its new corporate headquarters in the heart of the community, downtown Rochester.

2010 ESL begins offering services to the business community after launching its Business Banking division.

2017

2017 ESL Trust Services, LLC, is established as a wholly owned subsidiary of ESL.

2019

2019 Our 22nd branch opens in Irondequoit, on Hudson Ave. near the intersection of Titus Ave., becoming our third branch in Irondequoit.

2020

On January 17, 2020, ESL distributed the largest Owners’ Dividend in its history—$20 million.

2021

21 following a financially successful 2021, making the total payout $40 million, the credit union's largest giveaway yet.
