This position offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated estate planning and trust administration matters, advising high-net-worth individuals and families while collaborating with a team of experienced legal professionals. The firm is looking for an attorney with at least eight years of experience in complex estate planning, wealth transfer strategies, and trust and probate administration. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in drafting advanced estate planning documents and providing strategic tax planning solutions. Responsibilities: Provide counsel on estate planning strategies, including wills, trusts, asset protection, and minimizing tax liabilities during wealth transfers. Handle trust and estate administration, including probate proceedings, fiduciary representation, and sub-trust funding. Advise on basic and advanced estate planning, including GRATs, CRUTs, sales to IDGTs, and Dynasty Trusts in long-term or no RAP period jurisdictions. Manage post-death administration, including probate filings, Heggstad petitions, 13100 affidavits, 16061.7 notices, and trust administration matters. Oversee valuation of assets, sub-trust funding, and GST tax considerations, while preparing Forms 709 and 706 for gift and estate tax transactions. Collaborate with financial advisors and tax professionals to develop and implement comprehensive wealth preservation strategies. Counsel clients on charitable planning, including the establishment of private foundations and other tax-efficient giving methods. Represent clients in trust and estate disputes, with litigation experience being a plus. Qualifications: At least eight years of experience in trusts and estates law, focusing on high-net-worth clients. Strong knowledge of tax planning, wealth transfer strategies, and complex estate planning structures. Extensive experience in estate and trust administration, including probate matters. Admission to the California Bar is required. Excellent communication, client management, and problem-solving skills. Large firm experience and an LL.M. in Taxation are preferred. This role will also provide counsel and leadership on the resolution of real estate issues and disputes and will have responsibility for managing outside counsel, budgets and reporting related to services provided. YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH THESE GOALS BY: * Contribute retail leasing expertise to support business objectives and collaborate with G&D leadership and team members on a wide variety of challenges and issues impacting business operations. * Draft, negotiate and review a wide variety of retail leasing related documents in support of business growth initiatives and the existing store fleet. Such documents include lease amendments and modifications, renewals, letter agreements, construction contracts and agreements, work letters, guarantees, SNDA's, estoppels, exclusives and use restrictions, restrictive covenants and conditions, default notices and responses to same, and similar real estate related documents. * Manage and direct outside counsel in the efficient negotiation and execution of leases and amendments. Intervene proactively in negotiations to resolve issues, avoid delays, and expedite execution. Maintain uniform leasing standards on behalf of the Company while reviewing work performed by various outside counsel. Track and periodically report progress on negotiations to partners in G&D. * Support work prepared by senior paralegals and lease specialist, review and proof documents for execution. * Provide legal support for developer disputes and pre-litigation matters as well as issues relating to store construction and maintenance, lease payables audits, and lease administration matters. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: * Provide business focused guidance and counseling. * Develop and effectively manage budgets for external legal support. * Provide reporting and data to track and manage workflow, support projects, and manage risks. * Participate in the maintenance and data integrity of the portfolio management system and legal drive. * Support special projects as assigned by the current VP, Assistant General Counsel and/or Chief Legal Officer, on an as-needed basis. THE ESSENTIALS OF SUCCESS * Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school. Admitted to practice law and in good standing in the State of Illinois. * 5+ years of real estate legal experience with strong emphasis on retail leasing in the shopping center industry; experience in negotiating and drafting retail leases and amendments and related documents. * In-house experience with a national or regional retailer or developer is preferred. * Demonstrated ability to supervise outside counsel independently and effectively. * Proven ability to build strong relationships with the legal team, business teams, and executives; demonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills. * Excellent drafting, analytical, and organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through, and meet concurrent deadlines. Demonstrated ability to work independently with attention to detail, manage tight deadlines and prioritize business projects. * Process oriented and ability to create and/or recommend standard operating procedures. Team Collaboration: Work closely with billing, coding, and clinical teams to ensure seamless coordination and accurate information. Qualifications 2-4 years of experience in a medical business office or similar setting. 2-4 years of direct customer service experience, ideally in a healthcare environment. Strong knowledge of healthcare billing, insurance benefits, and payer remittance advice. Exceptional communication skills and a commitment to delivering excellent patient service.     This position will provide coverage in short-term, surge and on demand situations resulting from the Military needs such as a post-deployment event or to cover an existing assignment for counselors who are absent. Primary responsibilities include the full breadth of personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families at military installations. Services include education and counseling addressing financial services that may include, but are not limited to, one-on-one counseling, consultation with a commander or with another provider or staff, conducting briefings and presentations, or providing referral resources to a participant outside the context of a counseling session. Works closely with the installation and military branch Points of Contact (POC) to assure that the program is provided within scope and meets the needs of the installation. Provides personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families. Assists service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences. Develops and makes available informational financial materials to service members and families. Coordinates, publicizes and provides a wide variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops, e.g., topics across the military lifecycle, including, but not limited to, arrival at first duty station, pre- and post-deployment, and personal and career events outlined in DoDI 1322.34.
