SUMMARY: The Customer Service Representative manages billing inquiries from patients by phone, email or walk-in and assists the patient in answering their questions. Explains payment options to patients to assist the patient in arranging payment for their account. Has knowledge of insurance plans such as commercial plans, Medicare, Medicaid and other programs to be able to explain benefits and provide information to patients. Has knowledge of financial assistance programs available such as Medicaid, CICP or the EPH Financial Assistance program to be able to guide patients to a Financial Counselor for further assistance needed in settling their account. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: * Provides customer service to patients with billing concerns for Hospital and Clinic accounts by walk-in, phone or email. * Works directly with the Lead Customer Service Representative to manage all outstanding self-pay balances. * Takes patient payments via all possible payment options that include prompt payment discounts, payment plans, a bank loan or setting up an online account. * Assists Patient Advocate in resolving patient concerns related to financial issues. * Refers patients to Financial Counseling for walk-in visit or appointment as appropriate * Works closely with Financial Counseling and Pre-Access services regarding patient self-pay balances * Courteously answers telephone calls and promptly returns voice mail messages, routes calls and takes accurate messages as is appropriate. * Manages correspondence from patients online. * Demonstrate initiative and resourcefulness by making recommendations and communicating trends and issues to supervisor. * Perform in accordance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulatory agency standards. * Perform in accordance with organizational vision, mission and goals. * All other duties as assigned. SUMMARY: A Patient Access Representative is responsible for registering patients in a timely and accurate manner. The Representative will gather demographic and insurance information to identify the patient and accuracy of the medical record, while also securing method of payment for services rendered. This includes validating insurance eligibility & benefits information, explaining benefits and authorization processes to our patients, and collecting payment at time of service when appropriate. Communicates with clinical departments involved in the care of the patient, to ensure a good hand off to the patient's point of service. As the first point of contact at EPH, the Patient Access Representative will maintain a professional and pleasant demeanor that results in a positive experience for new and returning patients. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: * Greet and interview patients and/or family to obtain accurate and complete registration information. * Accurately and efficiently enter all necessary data into EPH Systems. * Obtains photo identification and insurance cards from patients to ensure identity of patient. * Communicates with the referring or receiving provider of service so patient can access appropriate care. * Verifies eligibility of insurance, and benefit information and communicates this information with the patient. * Collects copayment at time of service and payment options when significant patient liability is identified. Refers patient to Financial Counselor when need is identified for assistance. * Compliant for requirements related to registering and gathering information for Medicare patients, which includes Medical Necessity, ABN (Advance Beneficiary Notice) and MSPQ (Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire). * Assists with coverage across all registration areas within PFS to effectively handle all functions of the registration process. Must be able to work in two of four registration areas (Outpatient, Clinics, ED, and Urgent Care). * Assist PFS Billing with special projects as needed. * Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and EPH's policies and procedures, both at work and in off-hours. * Courteously answers telephone calls and promptly returns voice mail messages, route calls and take accurate messages as appropriate. * Participates in staff meetings, team building exercises and educational competencies to ensure Representative is up to date on latest requirements. * All other duties as assigned. * Perform in accordance with all local, state and federal laws and regulatory agency standards. * Perform in accordance with EPH vision, mission and goals. JOB SPECIFIC - EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT: * Upon patient arrival, assess patient condition to determine if registration can be performed at the desk area or if patient needs to be taken directly to a room. * Checks all emergency medical records for completeness before processing; processes orders accurately, efficiently and completely. * Responsible for Home Health processes during evening, overnight, and weekends. * Activates trauma team as per protocol. * Responsible for registering patients for outpatient services after regular business hours. * If Representative is licensed/certified EMT, will assist medical team in administering Emergency treatment as needed, per guidelines of the Director of the Emergency Department. JOB SPECIFIC - OUTPATIENT DEPARTMENT: * Reviews daily schedule for outpatient services to manage all areas of outpatient services. * Receives estimates for scheduled procedures from Pre-Access Specialist, or creates an estimate when needed and reviews with patient. * Maintain standing orders for patients receiving recurring labs. On monthly basis, checks current orders for those set to expire and requests from referring physician via fax or phone call. JOB SPECIFIC - PHYSICIANS' CLINIC: * Provides support to physicians and physician support staff, assisting patients in accessing appropriate care. This includes scheduling appointments and assisting with follow up when patients check out. * Answers multi-line phone system for Physician's Clinic, assisting with patient questions and routing their need appropriately. * Complete Daily Provider Schedule (Rounding sheet) and forward to designated areas KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: * General office practices and procedures. * Routine software and business applications including, but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and databases. * Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. * Read and comprehend department and Company rules, regulations, policies, and standard operating procedures. * Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and members of the community. * Regular, predictable attendance. * Operation of standard office equipment including fax machines, copiers, and computers. * English language, proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling in other oral and written communication * Perform duties independently without close supervision. * Provide professional customer service to clients and public. * Maintain sensitive and confidential information. * Follow written and verbal instructions. * Organize material and present information clearly and concisely in verbal and written form. * Current business letter writing techniques and methods. SUMMARY: Responds to 911 calls and requests for inter-facility transfers; performs emergency care and Basic Life Support in pre-hospital settings and may be asked to perform same functions while assisting with patient care in the emergency room. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The EMT B-IV will perform his/her duties in a manner that ensures his/her own personal safety, as well as that of the other emergency personnel and the patient or patients on the scene. With the assistance of a partner, the EMT B-IV must possess the ability to lift and load a stretcher bearing a 165 - lb manikin. EMT B-IV must also possess ability to work in stressful and harsh weather environment and during any hour of the day or night., The EMT B-IV may also be required to assist with community education, staff continuing education, and/or other EMS related educational functions such as EMT or First Responder Classes. He/she may also be requested to perform other non-patient related duties such as assisting with office related functions, performing quality assurance, basic vehicle maintenance (cleaning, stocking, etc.) and assisting at Estes Park Health as requested. Report for assigned duty shift in timely manner. Participate in shift change communication. Inventory vehicle to ensure that all equipment is operational and adequate supplies are present, and that the vehicle is operational. Report any mechanical problems to the shift supervisor or the maintenance coordinator. Check communication equipment and complete daily check list and documentation. Receives calls from dispatch and responds verbally to the dispatch center. Communicates with partner, reads maps, runs GPS, may drive ambulance to scene, uses most expeditious route, observes all traffic ordinances, regulations and communicates with responding agencies. Responsible for knowing local EMS protocols. Determines nature and extent of illness or injury utilizing standard BLS care, performs differential DX and makes determination regarding patient status, establishes priority for emergency care based on and renders appropriate emergency care based on those BLS standards. In addition, assists with ALS protocols and/or direct physician order care when deemed necessary by Paramedic partner. Communicates patient condition and treatment to receiving medical facility, ensures continuum of care once in the hospital, including appropriate documentation and verbal report. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: High School level or equivalent of education, on-going continuing education required. Experience can be variable but a minimum of six month preferred. Current State of Colorado EMT-B certification, valid (COLORADO) driver's license. Required certifications Healthcare Provider CPR (BLS), IV Certification. SUMMARY: The Sleep Lab Technician/Technologist provides care for patients undergoing sleep studies and sleep disorder treatment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: All Staff Members perform in accordance with Estes Park Health's Mission, Vision and Values The sleep lab technologist will prepare for the arrival of the patient by setting up equipment for the ordered test. Interview the patient to determine any sleep issues and explain the testing procedures to the patient.
