Commercial Roofing Estimator/ Project Manager

Prior Commercial Roof Estimating and/or Project Management experience is Required to be considered for this position. Functions: The Commercial Roofing Estimator/ Project Manager is responsible for pricing individual project proposals and determining scope of work on assigned projects. Tasked with overall quality and success of a project from start to finish. Duties: Effectively prepare and communicate in proper written form competitive job estimates by interpreting drawings bid documents performing take-offs for labor equipment and materials. Make site visits to collect bidding information. Review proposed and submit project bids in accordance with company bidding procedures with essential overall cost accuracy. Safeguarding they are completed on time. Participate in construction meetings from pre-construction meetings to completing project closeout documents. Coordinate project activities to attain successful goals on all projects by focusing attention to on time and in budget project completion. Maintain communication with project contacts regarding scheduling. Controlling and prioritizing multiple activities while handling multiple projects. Insure inventory of materials received at project site. Participate in post-job review/analysis of actual costs to estimated costs through job cost system for use on future projects. Requirements Commercial roofing industry experience Knowledge of various roof systems materials construction process and design code compliance and manufacturers requirements for warranty Willing to learn and use data base estimating computerize estimating software Ability to analyze blueprints specifications proposals and other documentation Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs (Excel Word Outlook Power Point) Outstanding communication and time management abilities Ability to give instructions and clearly explain problems or situation Understand complex problems and make decisions to benefit everyone as much as possible Must be able to work well with others and within a company system English Fluency - written and verbal communication Differentiators Edge estimating software BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience The preceding job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work to be performed. Responsibilities/Qualifications
Drees Homes is currently looking for a candidate for the position of Cost Estimator working in our Purchasing office location in Cleveland, OH.
The objective of this position is to be responsible for performing all activities associated with costing, estimating, pricing, maintenance of estimating related programs, and cost analysis of residential homes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Communicate with trade partners and oversee cost codes
Prepare detailed estimates and purchase orders for all product in a timely manner while ensuring accuracy
Utilize estimating software to verify take-offs and resolve disputes
Update and maintain bid pricing from all vendors
Establish working relationships with vendors/subcontractors to enhance effective communication

Desired Knowledge and Skills:
Strong computer skills including Excel
Analytical, detail-minded, team oriented and a good communicator (internal and external customers)
Experience in Construction Management, Construction Technology, Accounting or related field of study, preferred
Ability to read bid sets, architectural plans as well as construct cost estimates preferred
Experience conducting bid analysis a plus
A visual learner with strong organizational skills
Self-motivated to be able to multi-task and meet deadlines
A problem solver who can take ownership of projects
Experience working in a construction related capacity a real plus
The schedule of this position will be Monday - Friday from 8 AM - 5 PM plus additional hours as necessary.
