ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF A MAC SENIOR ESTIMATOREstimating Leadership
Lead and manage the preparation of detailed cost estimates for projects from conceptual through final bid documents.

Preconstruction Collaboration

Participate in project handoff meetings and support field teams in understanding estimate logic and scope breakdowns.
Vendor and Subcontractor Relations
Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and reliable coverage.
Lead pre-bid scope review calls and ensure alignment on inclusions, exclusions, and assumptions.
Review and level all subcontractor bids, tracking historical data for future reference.
Maintain MAC's preferred vendor database and ensure consistent communication with trade partners.
Process Improvement & Data Management
Support the development and refinement of MAC's preconstruction procedures and SOPs.
Maintain historical cost data and use it to inform conceptual and schematic budgets.
Assist in establishing performance metrics for estimating accuracy, proposal timeliness, and bid hit rate.
Leverage technology (Procore, ProEst, Bluebeam, Excel, Smartsheet) to streamline estimating workflows.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, AND REQUIREMENTS OF A MAC SENIOR ESTIMATOR
Deep understanding of construction means, methods, and cost structures across commercial building types.
Proficiency in Procore, ProEst (or equivalent estimating software), Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Familiarity with data center, industrial, or MEP-intensive project estimating preferred.
Ability to lead meetings with clients, architects, and subcontractors confidently and professionally.
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
Minimum 8-12 years of progressive estimating experience with a commercial general contractor.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The typical annual base salary range for this role is $110 - 125k. The base salary offer will depend on experience and other relevant factors. This role is eligible for project bonuses as well as an annual incentive plan.

Tri-City Group is seeking a Remote Industrial Estimator to work from anywhere within the United States, based remotely. This position will be responsible for preparing detailed estimates for Industrial projects.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Attending pre-bid meetings to determine the scope of work and the required contents of projects
Reviewing proposed specifications and drawings to determine the scope of work and required contents of estimate; gathering quotes, printing drawings, counting, take-off estimating, and responding to RFIs and RFQs
Professionally interacting with customers, other trades, general contractors, and internal staff
Providing Construction Services with up-to-date CAD drawings; assisting with the assembly of shop drawings as per project requirements
Providing technical assistance, i.e., interpretation of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment, etc., as required
Communicate with Project managers regarding bringing in other divisions, project closeout, following awarded contracts as assigned, and managingestimating extra work items, change orders, and credits
Qualified candidates will have experience in Estimating, cost control, and/or engineering
Travel up to 50% of the time
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's in construction, Electrical Engineering, or Construction Management, or completion of a five-year electrical apprenticeship program
Experience: Minimum of 5 Years of experience in Electrical Construction Estimating, Cost-Control, and/or engineering in an industrial or manufacturing setting such as automotive and equipment manufacturing, steel or aluminum casting and mills, chemical manufacturing facilities, food production facilities, water treatment facilities, etc.
Proficient in McCormick Estimating Software, and MS Office Suite, Outlook and MS Excel
Candidates must possess strong attention to detail, focus on accuracy, solid communication skills, positive initiative and judgment, the ability to problem solve and meet deadlines, and the ability to multitask with tact and consideration.

About this role
In this critical role, you will lead the estimation process for our most complex electrical projects, ensuring precise cost assessments and competitive bids. You will collaborate closely with various departments to develop comprehensive and competitive estimates. Your expertise and deep understanding of the market and industry trends will be instrumental in driving our project's success and maintaining our reputation for excellence in the industry. You will make and drive strategic decisions with the support of the company's leadership group. You may directly oversee the work of other estimators.
Location/Travel Requirements: Position will have 10% travel expectations and will be located in the Ohio office.
What You'll Do
Develop bid hour and bid sheets for estimates on bid projects
Contact suppliers for pricing
Negotiate pricing
Prepare take-offs, staking sheets
Create logistics plans for material handling
Familiarize with bid documents
Conduct visits to job sites as needed
Timely inform others within the department of project status and current assignments
Assess accurate and efficient estimating techniques
Assist other members of the estimating team
Collect historical cost data to estimate costs for current or future products
Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work
Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates for very large, complex projects
Develop and maintain professional, working relationships with vendors, customers, engineers, owners, contractors, and subcontractors for any changes in work, schedule, and estimates
Handle technical problems encountered during bid preparation
Stay current on various trends and developments such as new equipment, methods, and procedures developing in the industry or specialized discipline (e.g., mechanical, electrical, etc.).
Prepare special studies or reports required by the unusual nature of some bid items or conditions.

The Senior Estimator operates with minimal oversight on preconstruction teams, frequently serving as the principal point of contact with the design team and the owner. Senior estimators are capable of leading all types of project delivery methods and have demonstrated competence in basic and advanced estimating functions.
