Summary
The Estimator is responsible to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for assigned projects, applying knowledge of specialized methodologies, techniques, principles, and/or processes. This is an embedded position reporting to the office 5 days per week. This position will assist the Moving I-4 Forward program, one of the highest-profile projects in the state! This position will work with a team of engineers at the CPO, FDOT, and others around the state to deliver this program

How will you contribute to the team?
Experience in developing detailed construction cost estimates for transportation projects (roads, bridges, utilities, heavy civil) at various stages of design (concepts to construction documents).
Thorough understanding of scope requirements of various types of transportation projects (new construction, repairs, maintenance, etc.) as well knowledge of maintenance of traffic, right-of-way, utilities.
What will you contribute?
B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management.
Minimum of 10 years of related transportation cost estimating experience.
Participation in Alternatives Analysis, Value Engineering, Risk Analysis as needed.
Knowledge and experience with FDOT (Florida) and LRE (Long Range Estimating) system preferred.

Project Estimator
Hughes Brothers Construction is now hiring!
We are a heavy civil contractor specializing in large site infrastructure, underground utilities and roadway construction throughout Central Florida. HBC offers competitive pay, a robust benefits package and the chance to join a legacy built on hard work, trust and pride in every project!
The Project Estimator is responsible for preparation of estimates for a broad range of site development and heavy civil construction projects throughout the Central Florida area. Projects include, but are not limited to, residential and/or multi-family site work packages, industrial/warehouse site work packages, commercial site work packages and municipal, county and FDOT roadway projects.
Responsibilities:
Conduct detailed analysis of RFPs, RFQs, construction documents and specifications to validate overall project requirements.
Solicit bids for materials and subcontractors as necessary to prepare a complete estimate.
Ensure completion of quantity and material take-offs utilizing AGTEK software program with the ability to identify any missing information.
Coordinate with CAD technicians and additional in-house support personnel for timely compilation of material take-offs, vendor quotes, subcontractor bids, etc.
Perform site visits of projects to accurately assess existing conditions and identify any potential problems or challenges that may be present.
Attend pre-bid meetings as required.
Timely preparation of RFIs for any questions or additional information that may be required to satisfactorily complete estimate within the specified timeframe.
Correspond with Owner, Engineer, municipality, applicable governing authority, etc. as needed to provide a complete and accurate cost estimate.
Prepare itemized cost estimates with detailed breakdowns utilizing HCSS Heavy Bid software.
Establish a critical path schedule and preparation of any related or necessary exhibits for submission with estimates.
Coordinate with Project Managers as necessary to assist with change orders, plan revisions and year-end warranty close-outs on previously awarded projects.
Manage bid document control to include email correspondence, vendor quotes, subcontractor bids, take-offs, etc. for successful transfer to the Project Management department.
Attend project hand-off meetings with the Project Management department for awarded projects to discuss scope, limitations, exclusions, site-specific circumstances, potential issues, etc.
Assist Senior Estimator and company management in pursuit of new stakeholders and bid opportunities.
Desired Qualifications:
Previous estimating experience with Site Development and Heavy Civil Construction preferred (Earthwork, Utility Installation, Roadway Infrastructure)
Proficiency with computer programs such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, HCSS Heavy Bid, AGTEK and Bluebeam
B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management a plus
Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with external stakeholders, vendors and subcontractors
Ability to work as part of a team which includes mentoring and/or coaching direct and indirect reports
Exceptional organizational, planning and communication skills
