How You'll Make An Impact
Lead the end‐to‐end estimating process for large commercial and industrial electrical projects while driving accuracy, competitiveness, and disciplined hand‐offs to operations.
Mentor junior estimators and support staff; provide training and oversight where needed
Stay current with industry trends, local codes, and cost changes in materials and labor
Collaborate with project management teams to ensure smooth handoff and project startup
Maintain estimating database and historical cost records for benchmarking and future projects
Lead bid reviews and strategy meetings with project managers, executives, and stakeholders

What You Bring

FUNCTION
The Estimator serves as a vital function in the growth of Old Town Design Group. The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for single family detached and attached construction projects; calculate and process Change Orders; solicit and obtain bids and proposals; facilitate cost management; produce and distribute budgets for purchasing; and, work independently and cross departmentally to reduce costs without negatively impacting quality or timeliness of construction. MISSION
The Estimator will maintain the integrity of Old Town in all aspects. RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare cost estimates for single family detached and attached construction projects with high levels of accuracy and in a timely manner
Solicit and obtain bids and proposals from vendors and subcontractors utilizing detailed RFQ's
Assist with source selection and communication of awarded contracts
Coordinate cost estimates and budgets with Sales and Construction team as required
Calculate and process Change Order requests on active projects per company procedures and established timelines
Facilitate cost management and tracking of all produced estimates
Produce and distribute accurate budget information to Purchasing per required company timelines
Perform Gross Margin analysis on completion of each project and make corrective action to estimating means and methods as required to improve accuracy and eliminate process inconsistencies
Work cross departmentally and with vendors and subcontractors to identify cost savings opportunities that eliminate waste or inefficiency but do not negatively impact quality or timeliness; implement as required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field or 1+ years of residential or commercial construction estimating experience
Strong knowledge of construction practices and constraints

Knowledge of Value Engineering and Lean Construction practices preferred

Prepare pricing for all self-preformed work and adjust standard productivity in accordance with job requirements.
Prepare estimate summary sheets, subcontractor/vendor comparisons, and bid sheets.
Communicate with designers on contract document items not clearly shown on the bid documents. Document using RFI's (Request for Information).
Qualifications:

Work the entire life cycle of a bid, from invitation to proposal submission, along with post-submittal support/clarification when required; coordinate total estimating effort relevant to a particular bid/project as assigned; ability to interpret specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate; prepare estimates by performing quantity takeoffs from drawings or quantities provided in a bid package for the scope of work; prepare bid packages for vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors; assist in schedule preparation and analysis, execution plan development, and risk analysis; maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimates; ensure estimates are complete, well organized, and ready for management review; interface with owner, A/E, and other contractors to provide engineering and cost data regarding project feasibility; assist the project team on awarded contracts as assigned - may include estimating extra work items, change orders, credits, etc.; perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction
