Essential Functions
Bring innovation to the team through collaboration and continuous education.
Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work and input into computer estimating system.
Review estimates for accuracy and completeness.
Request quotes from suppliers for equipment and materials.
Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors and solicit quotes. Review quotes for completeness with plans and specifications
Itemize and quantify all incidentals necessary in preparing the bid packages including sub-contract work, equipment rental, tools, supplies, and schedule.
Provide to the Chief Estimator a detailed review of scope, technical requirements, and pricing for the estimated bid package.
After the successful bid at project turnover, meet with Project Management to fully explain the estimate, scope of work, quotes and offer aspects for the successful transition of the project.
Responsible for the timely completion of all client-required documents.
Draft scope letter inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications for estimates using an A3 format.
Bring your expertise into the bid process and proposal by detailing how we will build each project.
Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures

Key Responsibilities:
You will be working alongside our diverse, multi-disciplinary design and construction management teams to prepare bottom-up and top-down cost estimates. This includes preparing estimates from plans/drawings and documents or analyzing estimates or cost proposals/change orders prepared by others. You will help prepare detailed project schedules and review project schedules provided by contractors to assess for completeness and reasonableness.
You'll be working with a supportive project and operations teams who are invested in your personal and professional growth. You will also have opportunities to provide feedback and update our estimating and scheduling standards and processes to improve overall quality.

Qualifications:
Minimum of 10 years' experience in engineering and/or construction
An estimating certification or professional engineering license

Ability to review and interpret construction plans and specifications
Ability to create and maintain project schedules
Ability to complete schedule reviews and forensics
Ability to build AACE Class 5-2 estimates

ALL ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNTIY The Project Estimator Coordinates with the Vice President of Estimating or project estimating manager in the assignment of project related responsibilities to Estimating/Pre-construction Staff including the preparation of a Project Team Assignment Sheet. Plans and communicates to project estimating team, in cooperation with project Estimating Manager, the vital goals of assigned projects in a project kick-off meeting using a prepared agenda based on the Project Kick-off Meeting Checklist.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
• Quantifies, analyzes, and disseminates, to project estimating team, the detailed project program (i.e. work breakdown structure, room counts, functions, areas, etc) during a project kick-off meeting.
• Prepares, in advance, an agenda for all project team meetings and holds to the agenda during the meetings.
• Directs, with the cooperation of Document Control staff, the distribution of project documents and vital project information to appropriate members of the project team and outside resources

About This Role
Join Crusoe as a Staff Estimator and play a vital role in driving sales growth by acting as the critical link between the customer request and the final manufacturing proposal. You will be responsible for meticulously estimating project costs, ensuring quotation accuracy, and managing the seamless handoff to internal engineering and production teams. What You'll Be Working On
Technical Document Review: Review customer-provided specifications, drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics to confirm completeness and technical accuracy.
Customer & Sales Liaison: Interface directly with the customer and their consultants to clarify unknowns or gather any additional information required to produce an accurate bid.
Scope of Work Development: Generate detailed, formal written "Scope of Work" documents defining all services to be performed for the project.
Meticulous attention to detail and documentation - Align on requirements and exclusion with excruciating detail and document accordingly prior to start of hard bid process.
Historical Analysis: Review past projects, where applicable, to inform current costing and leverage historical data.
Costing and Pricing: Collaborate with in-house engineering and customer representatives to compile the Bill of Materials (BOM) for each project and secure current vendor pricing and availability for all components.
Labor and Engineering Calculation: Calculate estimated labor hours for fabrication, paint, assembly, and wiring, including the required engineering time.
Quotation Generation: Generate the formal customer quotation and collaborate with the Sales Team to review the proposal and determine appropriate markups and pricing strategy.
Documentation and process optimization: Maintain proper documentation related to each Request for Quote (RFQ) in the appropriate electronic job files. Continually look for process improvements in the estimating department.
Business Collaboration: Collaborate Sr. Manager and Director level management to provide input to strategic revenue goals.
Engineering collaboration: Collaborate with application and design engineers to ensure specifications are properly quoted and drive to clarify all grey areas of scope.
Lead by example: Set a standard for others to follow in a growing estimating department.
What You'll Bring to the Team
Technical Knowledge (Required): Strong, required knowledge of production of electrical enclosures, switchboards and switchgear to accurately scope and cost projects. Knowledge of modular electrical buildings (e-houses / PDCs) is a plus.
Experience: 5-8 years of experience estimating, costing, and sales is preferred.
Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills and a strong attention to detail.
Software Proficiency: Solid computer literacy in MS Office and Google products. Experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, with Infor Visual or Acumatica experience being a plus.
Work Ethic: Must be a collaborative team player with a good attitude and willingness to learn, who is willing to take on additional roles as needed.
Compliance: Willingness to undergo a background and drug test.

Compensation will be paid in the range of $102,000 - $124,000 + Bonus. Restricted Stock Units are included in all offers. Compensation to be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
