The Electrical Estimator position is responsible for producing accurate and timely full-cost project estimates, including materials and labor. Responsibilities include maintaining a comprehensive list of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors, and analyzing blueprints, specifications, and proposals to generate accurate and profitable electrical estimates. This position is responsible for preparing requests for quotations, securing competitive pricing from suppliers and subcontractors, and drafting proposals while meeting specialist requirements, as necessary.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
As an Electrical Estimator, you will prepare electrical cost estimates for diverse projects, including conceptual, design-build, and general tender work, regardless of size or complexity.
Independently calculate materials, labor, and equipment costs based on proposals, plans, and specifications, including project closings.
Review specific and detailed data to determine material and labor requirements.
Compute cost factors for management purposes, such as planning, organizing, scheduling work, bidding, vendor selection, subcontracting, and cost-effectiveness analysis.
Draft requests for quotations (RFQs) to secure competitive pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
Collaborate with project teams to garner support and commitment for cost estimates.
Use estimating software such as Accubid for precise cost calculations.
Analyze current practices and pricing to identify cost-saving opportunities and process enhancements, and recommend process improvements.
Collaborate with other estimators and the Director of Estimating to establish project indirect costs and overheads for each estimate.
Mentor and support junior estimators, assisting with quantity take-offs and quotations.
Perform additional duties as assigned to achieve company objectives.
WHAT YOU NEED TO JOIN OUR TEAM
3+ years of construction estimating experience in automotive, data center, or heavy industry sectors.
A bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university or trade craft certification preferred, or equivalent experience.
Solid understanding of electrical and mechanical drawings, and ability to interpret schematics.
Familiarity with industry practices, electrical trade scope, and Bid Depository regulations.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and knowledgeable in Accubid Estimating Software.
Ability to build relationships and work effectively within a team.
Strong organizational skills, capable of handling multiple competing priorities and timelines.

The Estimator will be responsible for estimating contract work, projecting and controlling project costs, tracking and analyzing all project costs. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Accurately define project requirements.
Obtain quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
Responsible for collection and distribution of all bid documents.
Prepare project estimates by studying blueprints, specifications, scope of work, schedule, and any other materials requested by the customer, taking into account possible unforeseen events and inclement weather.
Work with VP of Sprinkler Operations to develop estimating spreadsheets and instruct Project Managers in the use of the spreadsheets as needed.
Ensure smooth and timely project turnover from Estimating to Project Management.
Resolve cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
Prepare reports as needed and distribute them to necessary personnel.
Ensure all cost estimates submitted are as accurate as possible.
Assist in determining resources for projects based on cost estimates and budgetary constraints in alignment with company goals and objectives.
Manage the day-to-day operations of assigned projects so that they are completed on time and on budget.
Work with clients to brainstorm creative solutions to their problems and to ensure their needs are met through our customized solutions
Provide liaison support to CEO/President, VP of Sprinkler Operations, Project Managers, and external client interface support.
Assist field operations with an estimate after bid award.
Read and analyze job cost reports taking appropriate action as needed.
Respond to inquiries from the senior management team in a timely manner.
Qualifications

Ensure estimates are complete, well organized, and ready for review by management.
Develop preliminary construction schedules based on the project information provided in the plans and specifications.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintain a highly organized work area, meet critical deadlines, prioritize daily activities, and multitask.
Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills with a strong attention to detail as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
This position will work closely with project owners, vendors, subcontractors, project managers, and accounting.
Works hands on and independently, as well as part of the estimating/project management team.
Education and Experience
5+ years of experience working for either a Site Contractor bidding on private projects, or a Highway Contractor as an estimator bidding on DOT/heavy highway projects required. Estimating projects which typically range from $100k to $50m.
Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related fields.
Must have experience effectively managing the entire bid process from cradle to grave, including mass excavation, concrete structures, highway, bridges,pump stations, drainage systems and underground utilities.
Working knowledge of construction assemblies and all project phases.
Experience in identify value-engineering alternatives.
Ability to identify constructability issues through the estimating process.
Ability to assess site exposures/construction risks and appropriately analyze cost and reflect these in an estimate.
Ability to produce accurate estimates from conceptual and schematic drawings.
Ability to produce detailed, final contract estimates.
Ability to read, write and communicate effectively.
Must be computer literate with a working knowledge of HCSS, Oman and/or Agtek.
