As an Estimator - JOC , reporting to Lead Estimator/VP JOC Operations you will have the opportunity to:
Provide and/or coordinate full estimating services on large, complex work and all types of contracts
Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
Provide complete conceptual (or bidwork) and final estimating input on complex projects
Provide technical support to personnel preparing discipline estimates for assigned bids
Insure all working documents and data are maintained to back-up estimate figures
Assist contracting department during preparation of inquiries and final evaluation of submitted bids as required
Track awarded contracts as required - may include estimating/pricing extra work items, change orders, credit; procuring materials, etc
Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar from an accredited institution and 5+ years of relevant experience as an Estimator. Advanced degree desired
Experience working on NYC Metro area construction projects is required. Experience working with public NYC agencies is desired
Experience working on multiple projects and with various clients at the same time is required
Candidate needs to have Job Order Contracting (JOC) experience or experience working on Unit Price projects in NYC public sector
Candidates must have worked for small local and regional contractors that focus on smaller projects or renovation and/or tenant improvement work
Extensive construction industry experience working in public sector is a plus
Candidates must also have strong computer skills and be proficient with estimating software

About the Role
We're looking for an Estimator who can take full ownership of the bid process-from reviewing bid invitations to completing takeoffs, assembling proposals, and communicating with General Contractors. Once a project is awarded, our project managers take over, but we need someone who can thoroughly vet every opportunity and ensure accuracy on the front end.
This role is ideal for someone with 1+ year of experience in any type of door industry, with a strong preference for overhead door experience. We have a one-month training ramp-up, but we need someone who is detail-oriented, consistent, and committed-someone who stays in roles long enough to deeply learn the work and build trust with the team.
What You'll Do
Review incoming bid invitations and ensure every bid is evaluated and pursued.
Complete accurate takeoffs for overhead door and related systems.
Build and submit written proposals for internal approval (Sean will approve final proposals).
Communicate with GCs throughout the bidding process; act as the primary point of contact until a job is awarded.
Transition awarded jobs to project managers with clear documentation.
Maintain strong organization and attention to detail on documentation, timelines, and bid follow-through.
Work onsite as needed for collaboration; hybrid schedule may be considered.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
* Prepare complete quantity take-offs, analyses, estimates, and studies for all items incorporated in the assigned scope
* Develop cost-saving value analyses and recommend alternatives to proposed scopes
* Perform detailed quantity take-offs and cost analyses for concrete work, including foundations, slabs, and structural elements ensuring accuracy and alignment with project specifications
* Perform earthwork calculations and analyze existing site conditions
* Solicit, evaluate and compare subcontractor and material quotes
* Coordinate with team members to eliminate scope gaps and overlaps in estimates
* Review and interpret contract documents, plans and specifications to identify and address unindicated scope requirements
* Make data-driven recommendations to the Chief Estimator regarding project expenditures
Qualifications and Experience

* Experience with Bluebeam Revu and Procore software programs
* Exceptional deadline management
