The Estimator for a commercial glass and glazing contractor is responsible for develop ing accurate, competitive, and profitable cost estimates for glazing packages (glazing systems, curtain wall, storefronts, entrances, skylights, interior glass partitions, etc.). This role analyzes drawings, specifications, product data, and procurement information to determine scope, quantities, labor, materials, and subcontractor requirements. The estimator supports/develops bid strategy, value engineering, risk assessment, and coordination with design teams, procurement, project management, project fabrication and field operations to secure winning bids and successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and interpret project/bidding documents (plans, specifications, addenda, scope of work, and procurement timelines) to determine overall estimate requirements.
Issue and address all requests for information
Quantify quantities and material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and subcontractor-related costs using takeoffs, databases, vendor quotes, and historical data.
Prepare detailed, itemized cost estimates, including direct costs, indirect costs, contingency, escalation, labor productivity, and risk allowances.
Develop and maintain cost estimates across multiple phases (preconstruction, bid, and post-bid if required).
Assist in managing the estimating databases, unit costs, and productivity rates; update with current market pricing and supplier/subcontractor inputs.
Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers; issue scope of work, review proposals, and compile bid packages.
Analyze drawings and specifications for project risk, alternatives, and value engineering opportunities; present options with associated cost implications.
Collaborate with the project team (Shop Manager, Operation Manager, Field Foremant) procurement, project management) to ensure alignment between estimate and project execution plan.
Prepare bid day presentations, summaries, and win/lose rationale for internal leadership and clients.
Provide post-bid support including clarifications, updated estimates, and risk/register updates as needed.
Maintain documentation and a clear audit trail for estimates, assumptions, and sources.
Monitor market conditions and escalate potential cost risks or opportunities to management.
Assist in budget development for projects and during the preconstruction phase to align with client expectations and company targets.
Contribute to process improvements, estimating standards, and templates to increase accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Manufacturing, Engineering, Industrial Management, or a related field preferred; or equivalent experience in a construction or manufacturing environment.
Experience: Minimum of 0 years of experience.
Skills: Strong motivational skills. Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities.

+ Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Construction, or similar field with minimum of three (5) years of estimating experience in directly related construction role or a minimum of five (7) years equivalent combination of experience in an advisory and/or project management capacity required

Midwest Cooling Towers Inc. is growing our team! We're looking for a Project Estimator to increase our project bidding capabilities from our headquarters in Chickasha Oklahoma.
The project estimator is responsible preparing estimates for material, labor, equipment, shipping and taxes that comply with the requirements of the customer specification with competitive costing. Midwest Cooling Towers Inc. is growing our team! We're looking for a Project Estimator to increase our project bidding capabilities from our headquarters in Chickasha Oklahoma.
The project estimator is responsible preparing estimates for material, labor, equipment, shipping and taxes that comply with the requirements of the customer specification with competitive costing. This will include using programs and costing from items manufactured in our own facilities, construction and project labor, as well as outsourced from suppliers. The estimator will work closely with sales, manufacturing ,supply chain, project management and construction to assemble a project cost estimate for proposals.
The ideal candidate will be outgoing detail oriented, have excellent communication skills, and work well under tight timelines. Candidates who have field erected and/or factory assembled cooling tower experience will have an advantage while experience in the industrial construction, HVAC and/or mechanical contractor markets are also valuable.
The location is in our headquarters in Chickasha with less than 30% travel including some overnight travel is required.
Essential Responsibilities:

Generate and close leads to ensure all production calendars are full and sales goals are met

Provide strong leadership to ensure successful, safe, timely, and profitable project delivery and completion
Coordinate directly with the customers and handle all necessary communication regarding projects
