Job Description
Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Estimator to join our team to support large scale construction projects and programs. The ideal candidate will be a great communicator with a strong track record of providing accurate estimating services.
Responsibilities:
Developing cost plans and estimates from concept through detailed design across multiple geographic regions; with internal and external staff.
Delivering and presenting updated cost plans at appropriate design milestones.
Experience in providing program-level estimates for specific scopes of work
Coordinate, manage, and supervise the work of support staff.
Reviewing proposed design changes/new technologies and preparing estimates within appropriate accuracy levels.
Help drive cost model trends by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing cost information from completed projects.
Assess cost effectiveness of alternate products and value engineering ideas at a program level.
Support training to Development and external Estimating teams on new project estimating tools/templates.
Support preparation of leadership presentations for the client's Preconstruction and Estimating team.
Delivering Life Cycle Costing models.
SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering or field related to construction.
Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience
Experience in a construction cost management role such as Cost Manager, Quantity Surveyor, Estimator, Cost Engineer, Project Engineer, Project Cost Controls etc.
Experience providing conceptual estimating services and/or pre-construction services at a construction management or related firm.
Experience supporting large scale construction projects and programs
Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters, such as value management and value engineering.
Excellent communication skills.

This is an onsite, full-time opportunity in Kansas City, MO with relocation assistance available for the right candidate. Youll play a key role in winning and delivering some of the largest transportation projects in the state, working alongside a collaborative team of estimators, project managers, and field leadership.
What Youll Do
Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects, with a focus on bridges, highways, and transportation infrastructure.
Review plans, specifications, and bid documents to fully understand project scope and requirements.
Perform quantity takeoffs for structural concrete, steel, grading, paving, and related scopes.
Collaborate closely with engineers, PMs, and field teams to develop competitive bids and identify value-engineering opportunities.
Work with DOT specifications and requirements (e.g., MoDOT, KDOT, or similar).
Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors for pricing and scope alignment.
Support bid strategy meetings, proposal development, and presentations to leadership.
Contribute to process improvement and estimating best practices to help shape future growth.
What Were Looking For
3+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil, bridge, or highway construction (junior to senior levels welcome).
Solid understanding of DOT and transportation infrastructure projects.
Proficiency in estimating software such as HCSS HeavyBid, Bid2Win, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Excel.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills with both field and office teams.
Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferredbut relevant field estimating experience can substitute.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range:
$80,000$100,000 for candidates with under 5 years of experience
$110,000$130,000 for candidates with 5+ years of experience
Up to $180,000 for highly experienced candidates (15+ years)
