Key Responsibilities: * Participate in the bidding process for major projects within the Metropolitan area. * Accurately calculate labor, equipment, and material costs to prepare comprehensive project estimates. * Perform quantity takeoffs and pricing for materials, ensuring accuracy and cost-effectiveness. * Solicit and evaluate quotes from subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing and quality. * Thoroughly review and analyze bid documents, specifications, and drawings to identify risks and opportunities for project success. * Collaborate with the Project Management Team to review estimates and ensure alignment with project goals. * Prepare estimates at various stages of project development, from conceptual to detailed takeoffs. * Conduct post-bid buyouts and assist with contract negotiations. * Participate in pre-construction meetings with clients, owners, engineers, and subcontractors to establish project scope, timelines, and expectations. * Support the project team in the preparation and analysis of cost reports throughout the project lifecycle. * Perform additional related duties as needed to support preconstruction efforts. * Local travel to projects for site visits. Qualifications & Skills: * Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. * Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in estimating, specifically in underground utilities or infrastructure projects. * Experience with public works projects is a plus. * Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., HeavyBid) and on-screen takeoff software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift). * Strong knowledge of construction costs, engineering principles, and industry standards. * Familiarity with all aspects of horizontal construction and utility infrastructure. * Advanced skills with MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook. * Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively present estimates and project details. * Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. * Detail-oriented, proactive, and adaptable to shifting project demands. * Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team. Job Description Project Estimator Compensation: $75,000-$85,000 base + discretionary bonus Schedule: Onsite preferred About the Role We're looking for an Estimator who can take full ownership of the bid process-from reviewing bid invitations to completing takeoffs, assembling proposals, and communicating with General Contractors. Once a project is awarded, our project managers take over, but we need someone who can thoroughly vet every opportunity and ensure accuracy on the front end. This role is ideal for someone with 1+ year of experience in any type of door industry, with a strong preference for overhead door experience. We have a one-month training ramp-up, but we need someone who is detail-oriented, consistent, and committed-someone who stays in roles long enough to deeply learn the work and build trust with the team. What You'll Do Review incoming bid invitations and ensure every bid is evaluated and pursued. Complete accurate takeoffs for overhead door and related systems. Build and submit written proposals for internal approval (Sean will approve final proposals). Communicate with GCs throughout the bidding process; act as the primary point of contact until a job is awarded. Transition awarded jobs to project managers with clear documentation. Maintain strong organization and attention to detail on documentation, timelines, and bid follow-through. Work onsite as needed for collaboration; hybrid schedule may be considered. What We're Looking For Key Requirements 1+ year of experience in overhead doors, industrial doors, commercial doors, loading dock, or similar trades.
