The Estimator's primary responsibility and accountability is to provide an exceptional and successful customer experience while creating estimates, coordinating repair needs for customers including all communication, informing and updating customers and insurance companies throughout the repair process. The Estimator accurately assesses the damage of vehicles and documents needed repairs and parts replacement on the damage appraisal. The Estimator plays a pivotal role in the success of the customer's experience by ensuring they are working in alignment with all team members in achieving the repair facility's KPIs.

The Opportunity

The Mechanical Estimator will provide comprehensive-estimating services based upon bid plans, specifications and other documents. The estimate may be conceptual in nature or in detail based upon completed engineering and design and may be of a lump sum, time and material, or negotiated/fixed fee structure. The format may be manual, computer spreadsheet, word processor or commercially procured estimating program. The Mechanical Estimator responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

The Industrial Piping Estimator will be responsible for providing complete estimates for bids on projects assigned by the Estimating Manager
Essential Functions:
Review all construction documents including instructions to bidders, scope of work and general conditions
Solicit subcontractor and vendor quotations to ensure coverage on all scopes of work
Distribute plans, specifications, and addenda to subcontractors and vendors via company ftp website and/or email

Summary/Objective:
The Industrial Piping Estimator will be responsible for providing complete estimates for bids on projects assigned by the Estimating Manager
Essential Functions:
* Review all construction documents including instructions to bidders, scope of work and general conditions
* Solicit subcontractor and vendor quotations to ensure coverage on all scopes of work
* Distribute plans, specifications, and addenda to subcontractors and vendors via company ftp website and/or email
* Assist in development of bid strategies
* Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits which may result in travel time on occasions
* Review take-off and pricing for completeness on all self-performed work
* Review in detail subcontractor and vendor quotations for full compliance with the plans and specifications
* Develop rough draft scope of work for proposals
* Assist in negotiating subcontracts and procurement of materials and equipment
* Enter estimate into job cost control program and participate in turnover/transition meetings with the operations team
* Experience with means and methods of construction for the industrial piping trades, including shop fabrication
* Experience in providing budgets, estimates, construction schedules, and manpower projections
* Must be able to meet critical deadlines
* Work as part of a team and coordinate scope of work between in-house trades (Steel, Sheet Metal, Electrical, etc.)
* Supervise junior estimators as needed
* Performs other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibility: No
Required:
* 5+ years' experience in industrial construction projects or equivalent combination of education and experience
* 3+ years' Estimating/Pre-Construction experience
* Demonstrate knowledge and efficiency in computer/network based estimating software (i.e. Autobid, Quote Soft, TSI, Estimation, etc.)
* Solid and thorough understanding of process P&ID drawings and flow diagrams
* General understanding of ASME/ANSI Codes 31.1, 31.3, and 31.9
* Understanding and capable of taking off associated plumbing systems
* Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills
* Must be a self-starter and work with minimal supervision
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc)
* Must be able to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail, and demonstrate problem-solving skills
* Must adhere to all company policy and procedures
* Must be available, and have the means to report to multiple job sites as assigned
Work Environment:
* Works in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment
* Position will require visits to construction and industrial work sites
Physical Demands:
* This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopier, filing cabinets and fax machines. Site visits will require walking through existing buildings, industrial plants and/or on-going construction sites. This will involve stairs and at times ladders on multiple floors/levels.
Travel:
* May require infrequent travel (typically not overnight)
Preferred:
* AAS or BS Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or other related discipline
* Prior military experience a plus

As an Estimator, you will:
Collect different quotes from subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers
Identify and analyze labor, material costs, and time requirements, by searching proposals, blueprints, project plans, and any related documents to gain a thorough understanding of the project
Analyze company data, monitor budgets and prices using software packages
Determine what factors of production will influence the cost of a service or product
Prepare material estimates and cost estimates for the product or service
Create labor estimates for any project
Develop and maintain relationships with company vendors and contractors

Qualifications:
EDUCATION: Associates Degree in Business, Construction, or Engineering. Bachelor's Degree Preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Surveying experience (in and out of the office) 3 year minimum, and Site Construction experience of at least 3 years.
