Flint has an exciting opportunity for an Entry Level Estimator. The Estimating position will assist the preconstruction team in procuring work and budgeting negotiated projects. Additional services will include evaluating client requirements, budgeting, preparing GMP's, providing value engineering, constructability reviews, design consultant management on design build projects, subcontractor work scope preparation, and maintenance of subcontractor / supplier historical cost data base. Job Requirements: Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 0 - 2 years of Estimating experience and possess the following attributes: Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, mathematics, finance or accounting, or related degree field. Strong analytical skills and ability to learn quickly and adapt to pressure situations. Understanding of basic math skills with general understanding of construction practices. Understanding of estimating software, including Microsoft Products, On-Screen Take-Off software, Blue Beam, Bid Software, and knowledge of BIM, Primavera, Assemble, and Autodesk (this can be learned on the job). Full-time Description The Estimator provides the necessary Mechanical, Controls & Plumbing/Piping take-off documentation and assistance in developing designs, budgets, bid estimates and quotations in order to accurately complete the project estimating and bidding process at ASSC. The Estimator reports directly to the Estimating manager. FUNCTION The Estimator is responsible for the entirety of the project estimating and bidding process. Foster and maintain relationships with our clients (Owners, General Contractors, developers, architects, etc) Provide complete and accurate estimates for ASSC scope of work. Create RFI's as required while completing estimate Gather, update, and review historical cost data Works alongside our engineering team for design build projects. Estimators will work primarily on negotiated commercial projects within our core markets: healthcare, advanced technology, higher education, life sciences and corporate office. Senior estimators will work closely with architects, engineers, owners, and subcontractors and are required to have the following skills: Handling the project from first estimate all the way through subcontracts being formalized. Ability to look beyond the information that has been given, to ask the right questions and work to provide a complete project cost evaluation. The Solar and Battery Project Cost Estimator is responsible for developing accurate and comprehensive bottom-up cost estimates for solar photovoltaic (PV) and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) installations, ranging from 50kW to 5MW. The role encompasses estimating costs associated with site preparation, civil work, foundations, equipment pad installations, electrical contracting, integration, and commissioning of solar and battery storage systems. Expertise in ground mount, rooftop, and carport solar installations, as well as Commercial & Industrial (C&I) and utility-scale BESS applications, is essential. This role reports directly to the Sales Engineering Manager and is part of the Project Development team within the Sales organization. Key Responsibilities: Develop detailed bottom-up cost estimates for solar + BESS projects (50kW-5MW), ensuring accuracy and comprehensiveness from initial ROM (Rough Order of Magnitude) to turnkey solutions. Prepare estimates for site preparation, civil and structural work, foundation construction, equipment installation (including pad-mounted systems), electrical contracting, system integration, and commissioning. Leverage industry-standard estimating tools, such as RSMeans and other relevant estimating databases, to ensure competitive and market-aligned pricing. Create, refine, and maintain internal cost-estimating tools and templates that streamline and standardize the pricing and estimating processes. Collaborate closely with engineering, procurement, sales, and project management teams to validate estimates and continuously refine cost assumptions and methodologies. Conduct detailed analysis of bids received from subcontractors and suppliers, including reviewing for completeness, accuracy, and conformity to specifications. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, market pricing fluctuations, labor rates, and regional variations in construction costs. Clearly document and communicate cost estimate assumptions, risk factors, and exclusions to project stakeholders. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, finance, or a related field preferred; relevant experience may substitute formal education. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in cost estimating for solar and BESS construction projects.
