The Estimator's primary responsibility and accountability is to provide an exceptional and successful customer experience while creating estimates, coordinating repair needs for customers including all communication, informing and updating customers and insurance companies throughout the repair process. The Estimator accurately assesses the damage of vehicles and documents needed repairs and parts replacement on the damage appraisal. The Estimator plays a pivotal role in the success of the customer's experience by ensuring they are working in alignment with all team members in achieving the repair facility's KPIs.

General Description The Estimator is responsible for the preparation and review of assigned roadway construction and/or asphalt paving estimate packages; implementing department standards and procedures while ensuring the accuracy and completeness of estimate packages. Company primarily performs construction activities involving asphalt paving/resurfacing, bridge construction, earthwork/grading, roadway construction/rehabs, and highway work.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Read/review plans, proposals, specifications, RFP's, and any other pertinent project related documents necessary to develop a competent and competitive estimate/bid package.
* Solicit estimates from various subcontractors and vendors to prepare estimate packages.
* Prepare reports and analysis pertinent to estimating as requested by management
* Review established labor, equipment, and material costs, for preparation of estimate/bid packages.
* Prepare accurate estimates from conceptual and schematic drawings.
* Produce detailed, final contract estimates, for primarily Asphalt Paving and Roadway/Site Development Projects.
* Assess project exposures/construction risks and appropriately analyze cost and reflect these in an estimate.
* Identify potential construction issues through the estimating process.
* Identify value-engineering alternatives.
Knowledge, Skills and Attributes
* Working experience on HCSS software or other equivalent estimating software.

* Experience working for a General Contractor as an estimator bidding on Department of Transportation or other roadway projects between $1M and $25M required.

The Civil Estimator is responsible for developing detailed, comprehensive cost estimates for various site construction projects. Duties include collecting, analyzing, and interpreting costs of products and services as well as time and labor required to complete a construction project while ensuring profitability and maintaining safety standards.

Determine and define the scope of work and deliverables by reviewing plans, specifications, shop drawings, and takeoffs
Attend non-mandatory pre-bid site visits, as needed, to gain an overall understanding of the bid requirements
Establish relationships and communicate with general contractors, engineers, developers, subcontractors, and vendors until bid is awarded
Build earthwork models in 3D modeling software
Research the cost of items such as materials, transport, labor, and equipment through utilization of the estimating software, analyzing for completeness of scope, and resolving cost discrepancies
Request and obtain quotes from vendors and subcontractors in a timely manner by specifying materials, identifying qualified subcontractors, and negotiating price
Present cost estimates to Director of Preconstruction and President for questions, clarification, profit markups, and final edits before submission to bid requestor
Submit a responsible and profitable estimate to bid requestor by the deadline. Answer outstanding questions, make bid adjustments, and resubmit if necessary. Follow up with bid requestor until bid is awarded.
Attend turnover meetings with Project Manager to review bid estimate, answer questions, and provide clarification to ensure a successful transition from bid to project commencement
Collaborate with Project Coordinators and Director of Business Development, as needed
Adhere to all safety policies and procedures as it relates to office personnel

Job Purpose:
To provide controls support and estimates for commercial projects quoted by the department.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Review plans and specifications to determine controls product to be estimated
Translate plans and specifications into a specific list of control components needed for a job by selecting appropriate controls for the equipment application
Review and complete accurate and timely engineered wiring diagrams and submittals for projects
Estimate pricing for needed products and send quotes to customers or commercial department

Job Purpose:
To provide controls support and estimates for commercial projects quoted by the department.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Review plans and specifications to determine controls product to be estimated
Translate plans and specifications into a specific list of control components needed for a job by selecting appropriate controls for the equipment application
Review and complete accurate and timely engineered wiring diagrams and submittals for projects
Estimate pricing for needed products and send quotes to customers or commercial department
