Bell in Fort Worth, TX has an opening for a
Non-Destructive Evaluation Engineer
to join our Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) team.

You will provide specialized NDE support through all phases of rotorcraft design, development, test, and sustainment activities for Commercial and Military aircraft programs. In this hands-on role, you will support both legacy aircraft and new aircraft research and development.


In this role you will also be responsible for:
NDE related process specifications, development, fabrication and implementation of inspection procedures, and research and development projects. Tasks include development of procedures and inspection of structural test components, flight test inspections, NDE problem resolution for fielded fleet issues, and NDE supplier on-site assessments Methods utilized are Ultrasonic Inspection, Eddy Current, Fluorescent Penetrant, Shearography, Thermal Imaging, Magnetic Particle Inspection, and both Film and Digital Radiography. Ability to travel up to 20% internationally as needed to suppliers, support of flight testing and parts manufacturing.



Education Requirements:
Four-year Engineering degree, or other four-year technical degree with non-destructive evaluation experience.
Position Requirements:
At least 2 years relevant experience in Non-Destructive Engineering. Working knowledge of non-destructive techniques and methods. Aircraft or industry specifications governing non-destructive inspections process controls, testing and evaluation Proficiency in report writing and preparing technical presentations. Able to travel up to 20%
Preferred Qualifications:
Qualified Level II per NAS-410 or SNT-TC-1A in ultrasound. Completion of formal training in at least two other inspection methods such as Thermography, Eddy Current, Fluorescent Penetrant, Magnetic Particle Inspection, and Radiography.

You will develop test requirements to support the test objective, interpret the results, and document the testing activities. You will select and apply standard laboratory procedures and develops new test procedures to ensure all necessary testing is completed to meet the project goals. You will have the ability to make necessary modifications and adaptations to the testing equipment to achieve the testing objective. You will report to the Lead Engineer.
Responsibilities:

Set up, monitor, and report results of assigned laboratory tests. Recommend and implement design changes on tested equipment. Translate project goals into a schedule of activities covering testing and evaluation. Help develop new refrigerated display products. Evaluate test results and make necessary changes in the testing program or modifications of equipment under test to continue on with test goals. Prepare reports detailing the goals and conclusions of the testing project. Analyze laboratory test procedures and determine areas of improvement.

Qualifications:

BS degree(s) in Mechanical Engineering 0+ years of product design and evaluation experience Excellent communication skills, oral & written Strong analytical skills Six Sigma Black Belt Certification a plus

ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) and ADS (Automated Driving Systems) Evaluation Engineer
The primary responsibility of this role is to support evaluations of current and future ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) and ADS (Automated Driving Systems) against defined performance requirements. Additionally, this engineer will support efforts required to develop any new performance requirements as needed.
Example activities include:
Planning and executing evaluation activities in vehicles, in simulation environments, or to be performed by third party companies such as suppliers.
Analyzing collected data from evaluation drives and simulation outputs
Developing automation tools to improve data acquisition and analysis processes
What you'll be doing
Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, the person in this role will support the IVS division objectives to:
Evaluate and analyze ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) functions against performance requirements.
Support the development of new performance targets and requirements.
Implement quantitative benchmarking methods for ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) on competitor vehicles using GPS, camera, or other sensors.
Configure, modify and troubleshoot test vehicles, sensors and data acquisition equipment.
Complete data gathering evaluations on public roads and proving grounds.
Analyze test data and make performance change recommendations to the system owners through project leaders.

Requirements:
What you bring
Professional experience installing, troubleshooting, and using data acquisition & testing equipment in vehicles.
Basic proficiency in creating or modifying tools and/or scripts to automatically analyze data using MATLAB, Python, C++, or other similar programming languages.
Bachelors' degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent technical area.
2+ years of professional experience evaluating ADS or ADAS systems on vehicles.
Professional experience driving vehicles on proving grounds.
1+ year of experience in 2 or more of the following sensors: machine vision cameras, radar, lidar, sonar.
A valid US Drivers' License.
What you may bring
Experience developing software in shared repositories such as Git or SVN.
Familiarity with multiple operating systems such as Windows, Linux, MacOS, etc.
Experience writing scripts to automate standardized tasks or analyze large data sets.
Experience developing or implementing new data acquisition systems for a bench or vehicle environment.
Experience or functional knowledge of cloud computing systems such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, or equivalent.
