Evanston Township High School company history timeline
1883: Two-story Evanston Township High School was built on Dempster and Elmwood on August 31, 1883.
History of the Wildkit Mascot The Wildkit is often considered the “younger sibling” of Northwestern University’s Willie the Wildcat, a mascot that was adopted by the prestigious university in the 1920s.
1924: The building opened with 1,600 students and was capable of housing 4,500.
1962: Fifteen new classrooms went up over the technical arts wing.
1967: Three of the four schools-within-a-school opened, each with its own student body, administration, faculty, library, science labs and cafeteria.
In the spring of 2015 ETHS unveiled a refreshed Wildkit logo that captures the essence of our beloved mascot’s legacy while emphasizing the spirit of innovation and forward thinking that make Evanston Township High School an incredible learning community.
