An event intern assists in all aspects of planning events, works with clients, coordinates and executes events, assists in creating event collateral and outreach through media, social media, and email, and gathers information about each project to achieve quality event execution. An even intern also conducts research, makes site visits, and finds resources to help staff make decisions about event possibilities, proposes new ideas to improve the event planning and implementation process, and serves as liaison with vendors on event related matters.

An event intern will have skills such as being enthusiastic and professional, having the ability to build relationships with customers and a love for event management, and providing customer service. They need to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities and meet deadlines, be willing to work odd hours, and assist in managing on-site production and clean up of events.

While a bachelor's degree might be a plus, a high school diploma or GED is sufficient. On average, an events intern will earn $15.19 per hour which amounts to $31,598 a year. This career will grow by 7% and create 9,600 new jobs by 2028.

Event internship reviews

Pros

Working as an Event Coordinator/Planner is the most exhilarating and ultimately the most rewarding job - at least for me, it is. I have the passion and drive to turn a simple birthday bash into a themed, carnival affair! I love to see the guests faces when they walk through the door to be whisked away into a different era! I enjoy getting to know the client and to understand their vision. Because in the end - if I have done my job correctly as an event planner and the final outcome was successful - then I have done my job to the best of my ability

Cons

There are times when no matter what you do - a difficult and unhappy customer who has a bad attitude with everything, will not be happy. No matter what you do.
