An event marketing assistant is an individual who assists the event marketing manager in planning and managing marketing events. This individual is responsible for implementing marketing strategies of an organization, and specifically, plans, organize and promotes marketing events at trade shows, conferences, and other venues. Under the supervision of the manager, the event marketing assistant also researches as to which events may provide the greatest benefit to promote a product or service.

Event marketing assistants are exceptional at multitasking and must have excellent communication, interpersonal, sales, and marketing skills. These individuals typically work in an office environment for a particular business or organization and may travel to marketing and promotional events. Event marketing assistants also must be adept at computers and spreadsheets and often run reports, evaluate markets, and present promotional marketing plans to upper management.

Many event marketing assistants have a bachelor's degree in business or communications; however, an advanced degree is not necessarily needed if the individual has comparable experience and knowledge of marketing and sales. Many marketing assistants can make up to $37,000 per year, and in the US, the career field is expected to grow by 20% by 2028.

First, graduates may find that they need to do more leg work to find jobs in this environment. Schools with career services often have long-term relationships with the same businesses, who tend to hire multiple students in any given year. If one sector falls apart, there may be fewer jobs available at the career center. But students should take advantage of any services that help them understand the jobs in the marketplace, develop their resumes, and practice interviewing.

Second, students should try to think more broadly about following their interests and still finding employment. So taking some time to learn about career paths that they hadn't considered is worth doing. Many jobs rely on similar skills and may offer similar fulfillment and happiness.

Third, students should be ready to explore possibilities at companies they may not have heard of. Now, is an excellent time to look at companies that may only have a few jobs to offer, but may be doing some of the most exciting things a student can be part of. Finding a good fit is essential to happiness in a career, which may not be at a "name brand" firm.

Finally, students should keep in mind that their journey is their own. It is easy to discourage if you are having a difficult time, and your peers find success. But it can be freeing to focus on developing new knowledge and skills that interest you. Your success will come, and it doesn't have to be defined by someone else.

Event marketing assistant reviews

Pros

Being able to help enhance websites for clients.

Cons

There was a learning about SEO and all the data behind it. Wasn’t taught in school and supervisors were new to it.

Cons

There are times when no matter what you do - a difficult and unhappy customer who has a bad attitude with everything, will not be happy. No matter what you do.

Pros

Working as an Event Coordinator/Planner is the most exhilarating and ultimately the most rewarding job - at least for me, it is. I have the passion and drive to turn a simple birthday bash into a themed, carnival affair! I love to see the guests faces when they walk through the door to be whisked away into a different era! I enjoy getting to know the client and to understand their vision. Because in the end - if I have done my job correctly as an event planner and the final outcome was successful - then I have done my job to the best of my ability
