About the Team and Role:
Our data infrastructure team is responsible for all things data - data lake, data pipelines, distributed query engines, experimentation framework, data dashboards and visualization tools and so on. Our data-ecosystems is composed of open source technologies like Kafka, Hive, Trino, Spark and Airflow, along with a few in-house-built systems. As a member of our team you would spend time designing and scaling our existing infrastructure, improving system's reliability, working closely with other teams to improve or create new tooling for our infrastructure, and promoting the correct use of data at the company. We are looking for someone who will be excited by the prospect of optimizing, enhancing or even re-designing our company's data architecture/pipelines to support our next generation data initiatives.

Responsibilities:
Identify and implement improvements to system's cost efficiency, reducing data storage and processing costs
Design and implement scalable and efficient data architectures, meeting data needs from data scientists, engineers and business partners

Minimum Requirements:
Availability for meetings and impromptu communication during Quora's “coordination hours" (Mon-Fri: 9am-3pm Pacific Time)
2-5 years of experience working in Data Infrastructure
Flexibility for working and owning different Data Engineering systems - open to working on the areas with highest priority for the company at a given time
Proficiency in Python and SQL query design
Experience with big data processing frameworks, like: Hive, Spark and Trino
Experience building data-intensive applications (high velocity/high volume)
Experience with SQL/NoSQL data store & data lake operations
Preferred Requirements:
Experience in performance optimization or cost saving projects

As part of LinkedIn's AI Platform group, the AI Training team is responsible for developing and maintaining highly available and scalable deep learning training solutions to power our rapidly growing AI use cases. As a Principal Staff SoftwareEngineer on the AI Training Infra team, you will play a crucial role in leading and building the next-gen training infrastructure to power AI use cases. You will design and implement high performance AI Training pipeline, data I/O, work with open source teams to identify and resolve issues in popular libraries like Huggingface, Horovod and PyTorch, debug and optimize deep learning training, and provide advanced support for internal AI teams in areas like model parallelism, data parallelism, Zero, automatic mixed precision and kernel fusion. Core Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
As a SoftwareEngineer, you are involved throughout the product lifecycle - from idea generation, design, and prototyping to execution and shipping while also being paired with a mentor dedicated to your growth and success. You'll collaborate closely with technical and non-technical counterparts to understand our customers' problems and build products that tackle them. One of the most effective ways to understand what our users need is to meet them. You may receive an opportunity to tour the assembly line at an auto-manufacturer or join a counter-terror analyst at their desk to really understand their mission and difficulties.

Technologies We Use
It doesn't matter what languages you know when you join us, but it does matter that you can write clean, effective code and learn new languages quickly. Our software is constantly evolving, so we need engineers who can do the same. Alongside peers that bring diverse experience - whether you're a former university TA, switched to CS recently, or are a hackathon enthusiast - you'll build your skills to apply the best technology to solve a given problem. What we're looking for:

Distributed Systems Expertise: 7+ years of experience designing and operating large-scale distributed systems with deep understanding of consistency, availability, scalability, and failure modes
Data Engineering Skills: Strong background in building data pipelines, working with time-series databases, columnar storage, stream processing (Kafka, Flink, etc.), and data modeling at scale

What You'll Do

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:
$115,200 - $199,700
Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave).
