1901

The Everett Daily Herald began publishing in 1901.

1905

James Best bought The Herald, which had a circulation of 4,250, from Perkins in 1905.

1911

But International Women’s Day, which is celebrated Monday, has been going strong since 1911.

1971

After 50 years, Everett’s Epic Ford dealership closes shop It opened in 1971, when gas guzzling muscle cars like the Ford Mustang still ruled the road.

1978

His son, Robert Best Jr., took over the paper but the family decided in 1978 to sell the publication to The Washington Post Co., which committed to maintain the autonomy of The Herald, the quality of news coverage and its role in the community.

2014

From 2014 to 21019, the number of firms owned by women of color grew 43%, American Express reported.
