Protection and Controls is responsible for the design and operation of protection and control systems necessary for the safe and reliable operation of the transmission and distribution system. Protective relaying is a vital part of any electric power system and is very important during trouble faults and abnormal disturbances. If a fault were to occur, protective relaying initiates the disconnection of the trouble area while operation and service in the rest of the system continue.
The P&C Associate Engineer is responsible for completing activities and assignments related to the compliance, standardization and support for protective relays and associated systems for the transmission and distributions system. P&C engineers also apply specialized knowledge to provide innovative solutions to emerging industry issues. Compliance activities include the completion of NERC, NPCC and ISO-NE compliance tasks. Standardization activities include the development, review, implementation and rollout of transmission and distribution P&C standard documentation such as design drawings, philosophies and relay setting calculation files. The support activities include short circuit studies, short circuit modeling, analysis of protection system operations and system failures, along with appropriate resolutions, to provide support to operations on unplanned maintenance.
Essential Functions:
Complete periodic compliance activities undertaken are in accordance with NERC, NPCC and ISO-NE requirements.
Support the development of standards and procedures for compliance of the transmission and distribution protections systems in accordance with existing and future NERC, NPCC and ISO-NE requirements.
Support the development of standards and procedures for operation and maintenance of the transmission and distribution system.
Modify and maintain Short Circuit models and provide periodic updates in accordance with NERC and ISO-NE requirements
Support short circuit coordination studies by modeling and analyzing electric system elements and their protection systems using fault simulation software
Analysis of disturbance events, development, and implementation of corrective actions
Provides technical support and direction to operating areas relative to system priorities, engineering guidelines and operating decisions during normal and emergency situations.
Complete work activities associated with development, review, and periodic update of control center operating procedures
Develops infrastructure strategy, operating philosophy, and technical basis for asset renewal decisions and communicates that information to Asset Management for project justification and financial rationing.
Complete work activities associated with the System Planning group to provide design guidance and protections system performance details necessary for planning studies.
Support work activities associated with the Interconnections group and Distributed Generation Group to provide design review and guidance for new transmission and distribution interconnection requests.
Collaborates with other groups within Eversource Engineering to ensure consistency and teamwork.
Actively support storm and/or emergency restoration assignments.

The Telecommunications Team Leader is responsible for the Fiber Optic and Microwave network design, engineering, and execution of projects that provide communication infrastructure and services to the company. Team Lead is responsible for managing the telecommunications team and ensure a smooth operation in designing and installing telecommunications projects.
The Team Leader is responsible for assisting the Telecommunications team and is responsible for generating and reviewing detailed engineering designs and documentations for the fiber and Microwave installation, configuration, and commissioning of equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the telecommunications team by managing their day-to-day work and achieve targets
Long-term planning (5-10 yrs.) to support life cycle replacements of CORE Transport and MPLS CORE communication network infrastructure.
Short term planning for emergent projects, fiber expansion, new fiber routes, diversified fiber routes, Microwave and network reliability and enhancement.
Work with the Telecommunications Manager on the Telecom Strategy and growth
Be a mentor for co-op students, rotational engineers, new hires, and existing staff
Be familiar with Eversource and industry communication design philosophy and guidelines
Participate in weekly project scheduling meetings to represent Telecommunications Engineering and provide feedback to the team on project status and design due dates.
Review project documentation and develop telecommunications scope of work. Create network design and Bill of Materials (BOM), provide the “Issued For Construction” (IFC) design package and review As-Built documents after project completion.
Review and approve communication designs with telecommunications team members
Be able to prepare conceptual designs and cost estimates for future projects
Be a point of contact, for external engineering groups soliciting communication engineering support or questions
Familiar with all issued designs such that he/she can answer questions and/or address issues when the design engineer is not available
Plan and develop network communications systems related to Eversource backbone network infrastructure (Transport/Backhaul network) which includes Fiber Optic builds, Fiber Optic splicing, Transport Paths, Fiber rings, Multiplexers, Fiber utilization, RTU Replacements and Microwave planning.
Develop and own telecom engineering projects and lead them from start to completion.
Work with Project Management to create business documentation for new projects.
Configure OTN and IP network equipment, Multiplexers, Frame relay devices and keep track of regulatory & compliance requirements.
Participate in site walks with other teams to determine scope of telecom work.
Coordinate with equipment vendors to finalize product design application, solicit quotes and then place equipment orders.
Create high level diagrams in MS VISIO for overall project scope.
Create fiber projects and perform As-Built updates in the GIS tool (OSPInsight).
Create and Review detailed Substation diagrams (Wiring Diagrams, Cable Schedules) in AutoCAD.
Engineering Design and Review/Approval for all telecom projects and technical oversight of engineering work being completed by vendors.
Thorough coordination with Field Operations for equipment installation, troubleshooting, testing, and commissioning as applicable.

The Senior Electrical Commissioning Test Engineer is responsible for the initiation, development, revision, and execution of Electrical Testing Procedures within the 9 Station SASY process.What you'll do:
Execute a broad range of simple to complex field testing particular to the SPARC device during the assembly process with an electrical discipline focus
Create detailed Test Activity concepts / roadmaps in partnership with project managers
