As a Field Medical Director, Oncology, you will be a key member of the utilization management team. **Collaboration Opportunities:**
· Routinely interacts with leadership and management staff, other Physicians, and staff whenever a physician`s input is needed or required.
**What You Will Be Doing:**
· Serve as the Physician match reviewer in Advanced Imaging cases, that do not initially meet the applicable medical necessity guidelines, as well as other imaging requests when providers, clients, or state laws require specialty reviews to be completed by the subject matter expert.
· Discusses determinations (peer to peer phone calls) with requesting physicians or ordering providers, when available, within the regulatory timeframe of the request and provides clinical rationale for standard and expedited appeals.
· Utilizes medical/clinical review guidelines and parameters to assure consistency in the MD review process to reflect appropriate utilization and compliance with SBU`s policies/procedures, as well as Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC) and National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) guidelines.
· Aids and acts as a resource to Initial Clinical Reviewers.
· Ensures documentation of all communications with medical office staff and/or MD provider is recorded in a timely and accurate manner.
· May assist the Senior Medical Director in research activities/questions related to the Utilization Management process, interpretation, guidelines and/or system support.
· Participates in on-going training per inter-rater reliability process.
**Qualifications:**
· MD/DO/MBBS
· Minimum of five (5) years' experience in the practice of Medicine, post residency and Active Clinical practice within the last 2 years is preferred
· Current, unrestricted clinical license in medicine or required specialty
· Obtaining and maintaining medical licenses in the state you reside, as well as, any license required per business needs
· Active Board Certification in Adult Medical Oncology
· Strong clinical, management, communication, and organizational skills
· Energetic and curious with a passion for quality and value in health car
· Computer Proficiency
· Not under current exclusion or sanction by any state or federal health care program, including Medicare or Medicaid, and is not identified as an "excluded person" by the Office of Inspector General of the Department of Health and Human Services or the General Service Administration (GSA), or reprimanded or sanctioned by Medicare.
· No history of disciplinary or legal action by a state medical board

The expected base salary/wage range for this position is $110-$125. This position is also eligible for a bonus component that would be dependent on pre-defined performance factors. Graduate of a JRCERT accredited Radiography program.

The Tumor Registrar (Oncology Data Specialist) assures thorough, accurate and quality data collection as required by the Commission on Cancer (CoC), the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results Program (SEER) and State of Connecticut. This includes case-finding, abstraction, follow-up and reporting requirements. This role will maintain accurate cancer registry data, ensuring all cancer cases are documented and reported in compliance with national standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Under general supervision the Tumor Registrar will;
Review medical records to identify and abstract cancer cases and related information.
Collect detailed data on patient demographics, tumor characteristics, staging, treatment, and outcomes.
Maintain an accurate, up-to-date cancer registry, ensuring comprehensive and timely data entry
Perform data validation and quality checks to ensure completeness and consistency of the cancer registry.
Monitor data trends and resolve discrepancies in the dataset through communication with medical staff or external organizations.
Ensure that all data complies with industry standards and regulations, such as the American College of Surgeons (ACoS) and the Commission on Cancer (CoC) guidelines
Prepare and submit cancer registry reports to state, national, and regulatory agencies as required (e.g., SEER, National Cancer Database).
Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other confidentiality regulations when handling patient information.
Assist in preparing data for quality assurance, audits, and accreditation reviews.
Work closely with physicians, clinical staff, and healthcare providers to gather accurate and complete cancer data.
Serve as a resource for oncology teams by providing data for case reviews, performance improvement initiatives, and clinical research.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve data collection processes and accuracy.
Participate in the analysis of cancer data to identify trends, survival rates, and outcomes for internal reporting or external research studies.
Coordinates weekly tumor boards for the interdisciplinary team, this includes preparing detailed case summaries for each case presented.
Support research initiatives by providing tumor registry data for studies and clinical trials.
Assist in tracking patient outcomes and treatment patterns to guide cancer care planning.
Stay current with changes in tumor registry standards, coding systems (e.g., ICD-10, AJCC staging), and cancer care practices.
Participate in professional development and certification programs to maintain and enhance expertise in tumor registry operations.

Responsible for updating all logs and ensuring that dialysis run sheets and logs are sent to billing.
Perform duties as assigned to meet the patient care or operational needs of the clinic.
Outcomes:
Coordinate the functions of all departments and develop standards and methods of measuring patient care services, including a chronological record of services provided to patients as required by the ESRD Network Coordinating Council and Medicare.
Work with Administrator to maintain chronological, thorough, and appropriate documentation in the patient record of all treatments, activities, and communication with the patient, physician, and other healthcare professionals.
Promote quality management program through education and involvement of staff and patients in outcomes as well as overall responsibility to achieve corporate goals for quality.
Assist with program's target goals for patient outcomes in accordance with quality patient care and Company goals.
Review all incident reports; make recommendations and take action relative to incidents as appropriate; report at monthly QAPI meeting as delegated by Administrator or Management.
Operational Readiness:
Knowledge of and remain current with federal, state, local laws and regulations, including health care professionals practice act requirements.
Work with Administrator to assure clinic is in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Assist Administrator with development, implementation and follow up of Corrective Action Plans required for internal and external surveys.
May assume Charge Nurse's responsibilities as needed.
May fulfill responsibility of facility Alternate CEO as delegated by Governing Body.
Conduct and/or participate in both formal and informal meetings with the governing body, Regional Director, Medical Director and the staff as delegated. Assure that appropriate staff meetings, in-service education meetings, and team patient care planning meetings are held monthly as delegated. Assure that Quality Assessment & Performance Improvement Program is current at all times as delegated.
Establish, maintain, and submit all required records and reports concerning staff, patients, and the operational affairs of the center if delegated by Administrator.
Continuously monitor to ensure that a safe and sanitary physical environment is maintained throughout the facility; that all equipment is maintained and functions properly; and that adequate and appropriate inventory levels of all supplies are available and used correctly.
Oversee the maintenance of equipment and supplies to meet current laws and regulations.
Responds to all emergencies in clinic. Familiar with emergency equipment and all emergency operational procedures.
Supervise the maintenance of equipment, building areas occupied by the center and other property belonging to the center.
Partnerships:
Maintain collaborative working relationship with Medical Director and physicians.
Establish and maintain a positive relationship with all Administrators, area hospitals, agencies, vendors and the community.
Actively promote GUEST customer service standards; develop effective relationships at all levels of the organization.
Respond effectively to inquiries or complaints.
Staff Development:
Ensure all staff meet required qualifications for position held and perform duties within limitations established by and in accordance with company policy/procedures, health care professionals practice acts, applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
Serves as a resource/subject matter expert for patient needs and concerns, staff education and in-service sessions as necessary.
Assists with recruitment, training, development, and supervision of all personnel.
Assists with maintaining effective personnel management and employee relations, including evaluating the performance of all personnel and counseling employees.
Uphold management goals of corporation by leading staff in team concepts and promoting a team effort.
Effectively communicate expectations; accept accountability and hold others accountable for performance.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements include:
Current RN license in applicable state. License must be maintained as current and in good standing.
12 months experience in providing nursing care, including 3 months of experience in providing nursing care to patients on maintenance dialysis.
CPR certification required within 90 days of hire.
Confirmation of ability to distinguish all primary colors.
Demonstrated ability to function in a leadership position and to perform in new and emergent situations with sound judgment.

+ Utilizes medical/clinical review guidelines and parameters to assure consistency in the MD review process to reflect appropriate utilization and compliance with SBU`s policies/procedures, as well as Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC) and National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) guidelines.
+ Aids and acts as a resource to Initial Clinical Reviewers.
+ Ensures documentation of all communications with medical office staff and/or MD provider is recorded in a timely and accurate manner.
+ May assist the Senior Medical Director in research activities/questions related to the Utilization Management process, interpretation, guidelines and/or system support.
+ Participates in on-going training per inter-rater reliability process.
**Qualifications:**
