Position Overview The Clinical Laboratory Trainer-Histology prepares and facilitates training for new hire and existing employee training in the clinical laboratory, with guided direction from operational and training leadership. This role supports the histology department through subject matter and training expertise to ensure all team members are trained properly and competencies are successfully met and documented. Essential Duties Include, but are not limited to, the following: Provide and document new hire training in the department in compliance with regulatory guidelines. Provide and document, in compliance with regulatory guidelines, ongoing in-person and virtual training to lab employees, including: Retraining for errors/corrective actions. Training to support promotions or additional responsibilities. Training new processes or process improvements, including automation. Training new information from the technical transfer group. Create training materials to support training activities. Perform and document direct observations. Schedule, communicate, and coordinate training sessions and learner completions. Assist in the development and administration of learning exams and/or competency evaluations. Maintain accurate records of training in accordance with applicable policies and procedures. Provide training expertise to the lab teams using these skills and abilities: Ability to effectively transfer knowledge. Assess learners' needs and adjust training plan and delivery accordingly. Evaluate learning. Maintain competency in the assigned areas and provide laboratory assistance as needed. Other duties as assigned. Ability to work 100% of the time onsite at assigned laboratory location. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or Associate's Degree in a Chemical, Physical, Biological, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology from an accredited institution. 1+ years of experience providing instructor led in-person and/or virtual training, either in a laboratory or other setting. 2+ years of laboratory experience with a strong understanding of working in a laboratory or similar environment with professional working knowledge of HIPAA, GLP, GDP, and laboratory terminology and equipment, including at least one year of histology experience. Strong computer skills including Internet navigation, use of virtual meeting tools and platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom, email usage, word processing, and data/records management. Demonstrated ability to perform Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation. Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship. Position Overview The 2nd Shift Molecular Technologist II (Sat - Tues 2:00pm - 12:30am) is responsible for performing high complexity laboratory testing on patient specimens, to include the isolation of nucleic acids and next generation sequencing (NGS) with all associated procedures. Maintain all histology equipment and corresponding documentation; including, but not limited to, quality control worksheets, preventive maintenance records, and day-to-day maintenance. Enter data into the histology portion of the information management system (IMS). Perform routine and/or non-routine histology procedures, and regularly review work to ensure work is carried out in accordance with established policies and procedures. Perform microdissection of unstained slides in accordance with markings of stained slides provided. Prepare reagents, solutions, and controls. Perform and document equipment maintenance and calibration. Assist in sample returns, as needed. Interact with pathologists and laboratory staff, in accordance with SOPs, to ensure specimens are processed in a timely manner with high quality. Provide materials and reagent receipt and management in accordance with SOPs. Provide technical assistance to other staff, as needed. Assist in training team members, as needed. Perform H&E staining. Monitor and process the histology queue for various tasks that need to be performed and perform these tasks with minimal supervision. Ability to prioritize and drive to results with a high emphasis on quality. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Ability to multi-task and rapidly switch directions to accommodate changes in study designs. Display high attention to detail. Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills. Ability to use near vision to view samples at close range. Ability to spend considerable periods of time concentrating, reading, or analyzing data, or applying scientific rules. May be exposed to hazardous materials, tissue specimens, and instruments with moving parts, lasers, heating and freezing elements, and high-speed centrifugation. Ability to grasp with both hands; pinch with thumb and forefinger; turn with hand/arm; reach above shoulder height. Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements. Minimum Qualifications Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnician program, 3+ years of laboratory experience (one year of experience can be counted from the program completion). Or High School diploma, 5+ years of laboratory experience. Or Associate Degree in a scientific field, 3+ years of laboratory experience. Or Bachelor Degree in a scientific field, 1+ years of laboratory experience. Basic computer skills to include internet navigation and email usage. Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation. Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
