Act as liaison on matters pertaining to pharmacy operational activities and patient care. Maintain the department in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations with regard to the practice of pharmacy. + Assure high quality, accurate, expedient, and complete pharmacy services for centralized and decentralized operations through the supervision of pharmacy personnel. Work to coordinate daily activities of the pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. + Assist the Director in recruitment of pharmacy staff. Ensure that all of the staff are oriented to and prepared to perform all job performance standards. Measure the performance of employees and conduct annual performance appraisals. Identify personnel and performance problems and when appropriate counsels employees and initiates disciplinary and/or corrective action in conjunction with the Director. + Remain abreast of developments in the field through continuing education, professional literature, participation in professional organizations, and communication with peers in other organizations and on staff. Remain abreast of developments in the changing environment of healthcare with regard to pharmaceutical services. + In conjunction with Pharmacy Leadership, provide or direct the provision of training and testing necessary to ensure competency of employees and skills maintenance, and maintains all pertinent documents as required. Recognize employee potential and proficiency, and facilitates personal and professional growth. + Participate in the development of policy and procedures for the department and provides the direct supervision necessary to ensure adherence to such. + Ensure patient safety through ensuring appropriate staffing so that pharmacy department continually provides optimum pharmaceutical care; adjusts staffing schedule as necessary to account for employee sick time, leaves, vacations, etc., and/or periods of high patient census. + Prepare, implement, and monitor the capital and operating fiscal budgets. + Coordinate or perform all pharmacy scheduling activities to assure adequate coverage to provide quality and efficient pharmacy operational services. + Oversee the packaging, labeling, and distribution of medications for all patients according to established policies, procedures, and guidelines. Continuously evaluate policies and procedures and is alert to opportunities to improve the quality and extent of pharmacy services. + High school diploma or equivalent - REQUIRED + Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, including at least two (2) years in a leadership role - REQUIRED + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to support departmental procedure development, operational analysis, and inventory oversight. + Effective interpersonal skills to collaborate with hospital staff at all levels, and work closely with nursing and medical teams. + Demonstrated supervisory abilities, including planning, organizing, coordinating, and directing staff. + Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines. + Proficiency with personal computer applications.     UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh is hiring a Pharmacy Technician to work onsite in the inpatient Pharmacy at the main hospital in Lawrenceville. The Pharmacy Technician provides pharmaceutical care to patients within the UPMC Health System by assisting with the sterile and nonsterile medication preparation, medication filling, and medication distribution. The Pharmacy Technician services are provided in compliance with Department of Health, The Joint Commission, and State Board of Pharmacy regulations. Title and rate of pay will be determined based on education and experience. UPMC is offering a $5000 sign on bonus for this role. This sign on bonus is attached to a 2 year work commitment. Responsibilities: + Assist in filling medication orders through correct labeling, counting and stocking practices. Initial and date products as required. + Assist in the preparation of the proper oral and injectable medications (including intravenous admixtures and TPN (Total Parenteral Nutrition)) for the correct patient for administration at the appropriate time. Refer all drug information questions to Staff Pharmacists. + Ensure that all medications in all areas have been safely and securely stored according to Department of Health, The Joint Commission, and State Board of Pharmacy regulations. + Comply with Federal and State laws such as HIPAA, regulations such as OSHA, and PBM contracting requirements such as FWA and CMS. + Maintain all patient information and records.
