* Serves as a technical subject matter expert for optical thin film coating processes
* Assists in the transfer of optical coating process technologies from R&D to production
* Supports the production qualification of new equipment
* Creates and improves documentation for the manufacture of optical components
* Trains technicians on the execution of optical coating processes
* Monitors and drives improvement of production optical coating processes and equipment using SPC
* Interacts with customers to solve quality problems
* Supports troubleshooting of existing optical coating equipment and processes.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Physics, Materials Science, or related field (Chemistry, Optics, etc.). Advanced degree desirable.
* 5 years experience with optical thin film coating desirable.
* Experience with vacuum technology desirable.
* Proficiency with SPC desirable.
* Experience with structured problem-solving tools (fishbone diagram, FMEA, DMAIC, etc.) desirable.

We are currently seeking a Coater Technician who will be responsible for keeping optical components moving from cleaning operations to coating chamber operations. They will also perform cleaning and inspection of substrates and coated components.
Main responsibilities:
* Cleans, inspects and measures more advanced/complex substrates to ensure quality.
* Packages optical components
* Sets up tooling
* Loads parts into chambers
* Starts coating runs
* May perform tooling fit checks/reviews
* Able to read and comprehend prints for determining specs on surface quality, substrate dimensions, arrow marking for side one and side two, and packaging requirements
* May begin training and/or perform the second check chamber start
* Understanding of non-conforming material and how to scrap material
* Understanding of substrate material
* Inspection of a normal product
* Trained on ISO/mil / final inspection
* Raising tech issues with tooling, specs, process sheets, etc
* Understanding defect types
Qualifications:
* High school diploma or GED preferred.
* Teamwork - works effectively within the team.
* Previous work experience in a process manufacturing environment is desired, but not required
Pay Range: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Principal Duties/Responsibilities:
· Evaluates non-emergency work requests, develops scope of work, and inspects job location to determine job requirements.

· Creates a Weekly Technician Schedule that includes priority planned jobs and preventative maintenance tasks that utilize 100% of the available technician labor hours.
· Improves work order planning and scheduling effectiveness through the review process and use of the maintenance metrics.
· Maintains records and files essential to meaningful analysis and reporting of maintenance related matters.
· Trains site employees on CMMS and ensures that it is working with integrity and is being utilized.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSAs), & Competencies:
Essential KSAs:
· Associate Degree required in a technical field with 1-3 years of maintenance scheduling / planning experience and/or 5 - 10 years as a machine repair technician, or equivalent combination of both
· Familiar with industrial manufacturing environment
· Electrical/mechanical aptitude
· Proficiency with computers, maintenance systems, and applications including Microsoft Office
· Excellent verbal communication, facilitation, and presentation skills
