The Microsoft 365 Messaging Engineer is a part of the Messaging Team within JRI-America and is
responsible for supporting Messaging Exchange Online environment.

This role provides day-to-day engineering for the SMBC Messaging environment with primary focus on the
Microsoft 365 platform. Uses expertise to deliver solutions within the organisation. Serves as escalation
point from the business contacts and Messaging Management. Reports to the Messaging Manager. Has no
direct/indirect reports.
Responsibilities
Engineer, develop, test, deploy and validate changes in the Microsoft Exchange Online environment,
with focus on Exchange Online Transport Rules, DLP Rules, mail flow, producing reports on mail
traffic and volume.
Delivers engineered solutions based on business requirements. Document requirements into
functional specifications related to email monitoring, message review and approval (Moderation),
Outlook Policy Tips, Exchange Transport Rules and DLP.
Document, maintain and enhance existing mail-flow rules and policies
Diagnose reported issues and provide root cause analysis to management and the business teams.
Works closely with Messaging Manager, Architecture, and IT Security teams.
Works closely with Microsoft regarding reported issues, Microsoft case management and holding
Microsoft accountable for providing updates on open cases.
Creates documentation of the Microsoft 365 Exchange environment as required.
Enhances efficiency via automation when and wherever possible.
Follow all Change Management protocols, communicates changes scheduled and when completed

Collaborates with security teams on Microsoft 365 application issues which affect security
processes.

Rules, M365 Data Leakage Policies, eDiscovery in Security & Compliance Center.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to articulate requirements, concepts
and ideas to business and technology partners.
Ability to work well independently and be a self-starter and produce status reports, track issues and
cases opened with Microsoft or other vendors.
