JOB PURPOSE

Teach general Aqua Exercise classes to the 14th Street Y members and clients in the pool. Provide high quality instruction and excellent communication with students.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Health & Safety

• Create a safe, unique and memorable class experience with participants.
• Guide students through a challenging and level appropriate class
• Maintain neat, professional attire and a courteous, helpful attitude
• Foster and grow strong relationships with 14th Street Y members
• Uphold key values of 14StreetY team members: accountability, anticipating needs, Positive attitude and atmosphere

Customer Service

• Deliver excellent customer service to all members at all times.
• Address and resolve all member/client questions and issues in a timely, friendly manner.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required Knowledge

• Current Aqua Exercise Instructor and CPR/AED certifications required
• Team player and a passion to build relationships with individuals
• Excellent customer service skills handling all matters in courteous and friendly manner
• Proactive, hands on approach, as well as a professional work ethic
• Self-motivated, highly efficient, strong attention to details

**Overview**

This individual will be responsible for teaching multiple types of group fitness including but limited to Yoga, Zumba, Senior classes, and stretching/flexibility. The facility is open Monday-Thursday 5:30am-9:00pm, Friday 5:30am-7:30pm and Saturday/Sunday 8am-4:00pm. This individual will need to teach classes during the weekdays.

**Description**

JOB RESPONSIBILTIES:

1. Provide enthusiastic attitude and ensure to get to know each class member by name.

2. Provide entertaining, effective, and safe group-exercise experience to the members.

3. Punctuality is a must. Come to class at least 10 minutes in advance and prepare for class in advance.

4. Promote facility services and events to members.

5. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and teams.

6. Participates in supporting the organization's vision, mission and values and adheres to Standards of Behavior.

7. Performs other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

+ Five years plus experience as a group-exercise instructor and multiple certifications for Level II classification.

+ Experience teaching classes similar to those to be instructed at the facility.

+ Associate Degree preferred.

+ Bachelor's degree in exercise science or related field preferred.

+ Current certification as a group-fitness instructor or leader from an NCCA-accredited organization. If instructing classes in yoga, Pilates, spinning, or related specialty class, must have either a nationally recognized certification in that specialty or evidence of training in that specialty.

+ Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association required.

Qualifications:

• Experience working in a fitness/health environment where you providing hands-on training with client
• Must have at least 1 license and/or certification (ACE, NASM, ISSA, ACSM, NSCA, etc)
• Ability to create a positive environment that welcomes all people.
• Fantastic communication skills and exudes empathy.
• Must love connecting with people and have passion for helping them achieve goals.
• Must have a professional work ethic, be reliable and adhere to our attendance policies
• Must be available to go through our Flexologist Training Program, which includes 20 hours of online tutorials and 2 days of in-person/hands-on training

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Deliver one-on-one assisted stretch sessions as well as group stretch classes for up to 6 clients
• Encourage and motivate clients throughout stretch sessions
• Build StretchLab membership and retain current clientele through sales
• Managing client care –
  • Delivering a best-in-class stretching experience
  • Booking client’s weekly recurring appointments
  • Updating client notes consistently
  • Maximize client utilization of sessions/membership by booking follow up appointments, renewing memberships, outreach to leads
• Ensure safety of clients in regards to proper stretch techniques and enforce StretchLab policies and safety rules
• Attend staff meetings and required educational presentations
• Handle member concerns when applicable
• Assist sales associates and General Manager with studio tour and sales as needed
• Maintain strong social media presence to client membership and retention
• Clean and maintain all equipment in order to ensure it is available for client use at any given time
• Be available for weekday and weekend shifts, potentially morning, mid-day or evening
